Please help with collection agency issue

I owed a hospital for a medical bill and they turned the bill over to a collection agency and then I paid the collection agency in full by debit card over the phone, but they had already reported it credit bureau as a bad debt.  After I paid it they listed the debt as paid on my credit report but did not remove it.  I have called them repeatedly, sent emails and sent letters, spoke to supervisors and they all said that they can not remove the account from my credit report.  They told me that if they removed it they would lose their "reporting rights" with credit bureau. This is the only negative thing I have on my credit report but it has affected my credit score significantly.  Is there anything else I can do to make them remove this from my credit report. Please help, thanks.

Re: Please help with collection agency issue

Paid medical debt is often relatively easy to remove from your credit reports using the HIPAA process you will find on the thread at the top of this forum. Sometimes it takes a bit longer to do, but most are fairly straightforward.

CAs all say they cannot remove collections, but they can. They are only required to report accurate info if they report, but they are not required to report at all. Thus they can remove collections.
