So I recently got a replacement for an expiring Discover credit card, and it turned out to have no hologram! Older Discover credit cards had a hologram in the magentic strip. This one just has a regular magnetic strip. Surely this can't be the norm going forward. I think when Discover it cards came out a decade ago, people said it looked fake. I think it might look even more fake now...
My Discover card expires end of May. So, I anticipate no hologram with my new card. No one but the card holder looks at cards these days. So, why spend money for non value add holograms.

^^^^ Agree,
While at removing things.
I never sign the signature space on CC's.
Never been turned down, don't think anyone even looks.
With tap the card or slide it in a slot, why ?
How would anyone looking at the signature know if it was your's or not.
They can remove that white block area on back of all cards also.
I just looked at my "it" card which was product changed from "More" in the Spring of 2022. It also does not have a hologram, so this has been going on for at least 2 years. I never noticed until you mentioned it.
I still have my More card. So it appears come June I'll be reassigned to the It crowd. Now I'm really bummed. What's next, being pushed over to the CapOne herd?

Is Discover automatically converting your "More" to "it"? I had to request a product change. From what I could tell, there was no advantage to keeping the "More" as that product's tiered rewards resulted in less cashback than the "it".
In a few years there will not even be a magnetic strip!
My Discover Card has been without a hologram since summer 2021.

I hope it is not automatic as I prefer my More card. However, some posters have alluded to their cards being converted automatically.

I'm just curious as to why you prefer the "More". I kept mine for many years, but that was just due to inertia and not really losing much in rewards as I wasn't putting any significant spend on the card. Eventually, I got around to PCing to "it" for the 1% base rewards instead of 0.25%.
