Fitbit users?

After getting tricked to buy Galaxy phone A03s and finding out that it does NOT in fact support NFC Smiley Sad Google Fi is in fact a tad more expensive than net10 wireless, a LG phone which I was perfectly satisfied with, only without NFC..anyway so I'm eager to use NFC, to tap to pay on supermarkets. After seeing a guy doing that using a smartphone..looked so cool!

A getaround is to use Fitbit which some newer models support NFC I've learned, so checked Amazon for it and Capital One portal kindly sent me to Macy page(huge savings according to its tracker!) lol. Versa 4 and Charge 5. Versa is more of a proper smartwatch and Charge is a typical one for joggers, smaller, less features, etc.

Haven't used smartwatch nor that kind of tracker, so havering about it, to actually pull the trigger. Charge 5 seem to have some issues regarding setting up(with Galaxy S) and charge hours. Anybody who can advise me on this, smartwatch especially fitbit users? Thanks

Re: Fitbit users?

I use a Charge 5 and it integrates very well with my iPhone 11.

While I used to be a Samsung user, that was before I started wearing a fitness tracker, and my Samsung experience was just with their flagship Galaxy S series. So I can't speak to A03s integration.

I don't use my Charge 5 for payments. I'm comfortable using the iPhone 11 Apple Wallet for mobile payments, loyalty program cards, and airline boarding passes...but that's the smallest screen I'm willing to deal with for anything remotely complicated.

I basically use the Charge 5 for 4 things:

1. Fitness. Steps, distance, heart rate, mile rate, active minutes, etc.

2. Time-telling.

3. A quick view of an incoming text message without having to get my phone out of my pocket.

4. A timer/stopwatch/alarm.

Keep in mind that the upside of the Charge 5's few features is a long battery life. It can go about 4 to 5 days between charging, and that's nice when many smartwatches with more features need to be recharged every 24-36 hours. The real-world accuracy of the data you get diminishes if you have to take it off a lot.

~$100 seems to be the standard Black Friday price for Charge 5. Costco has it $10 cheaper.*

Smartphone/smartwatch mobile payments are convenient and a nice feature (far cooler than metal cards IMO), but if on a tight budget I wouldn't buy new devices just for that reason.

*If you do decide to get one...Costco excepted, the pricing looks pretty uniform. When I got mine I saw that Best Buy and Amazon mirrored Dell's "Black Friday in July" price on a few items. Look into portal and card promotion offers. I got mine with an Amex Business Platinum from Dell. I got a statement credit for the full amount (Bus Plat $200 semiannual Dell credit) plus +10x MRs from Rakuten at Dell (temporary earning boost) plus 10% back on Dell purchases (Amex offer).

Personal spend: Amex Gold, Amex Schwab Plat., BofA PR+CCR(x2), Costco
Business use: Amex Bus. Plat., BBP, Lowes Amex AU, CFU AU
Perks: Delta Plat., United Explorer, IHG49, Hyatt, "Old SPG"
Mostly SD: Freedom Flex, Freedom, Arrival
Upgrade/Downgrade games: ED, BCE
SUB chasing: AA Platinum Select

Re: Fitbit users?

Thank u! Yeah I guess I'll pass this time, Cap 1 portal says I can save big like 35% so the price after everything(even if I buy with the regular sale price at Macy's) is about 80 dollars. You got that basically free! Smiley Surprised

Yes, two good promotions lined up nicely for my purchase.

I'm not clear on how you're getting an $80 price at Macy's. Is Capital One offering you 35% cash back on $99.95? Or is Capital One just comparing the nominal "full price" of $149.95 to the $99.95 sales price? And FWIW I doubt a lot of people actually pay $149.95. I think it's always "on sale" to some degree.

Re: Fitbit users?

after rewards are applied, that is. I do have to buy the regular sale price at Macy's at first. Copying;

Save $34

Recommendation$75.23Est. after Rewards

Est. Purchase Price$110.21

$99.96 +

$10.25 tax +

free 5 day shipping

+ $34.98 Est. back in Capital One Shopping Rewards

Exclusions may apply. View Details

That's for Charge 5 and Versa 4 is about 100 after rewards. Frankly skeptical whether they really do give back that much, and as you said even if I get it there's an integration problem with A03s, which is unproven(phone itself doesn't have NFC, but I did download Google Pay on it anyway, can use it on app like McDonalds and Subway, just not tap to pay).

I'm also surprised they give 35% back but maybe it is that good. I've never used the Cap1 shopping rewards program, generally favoring airline options or Rakuten.

Fitbit devices (at least some of them) can use Bluetooth as well as NFC. So that's probably how it would integrate with the A03s.

Re: Fitbit users?

Yes Cap 1 shopping is convenient, tagging on browsers and automatically shows ways to save, applying coupons etc., for example when I browse items on Amazon.

And yes, fitbit has bluetooth and thus can integrate with smartphones. At least that's what I was thinking lol, trying to use NFC in whatever way possible Smiley LOL
