Never fudge your timesheet even if others do.
Always go to happy hour, but never get drunk. Be one of the first to leave
Don't discuss office politics.
Do every 20 hour task in 15 hours. Ask for more work when you can.
All of the above and...
Show up on time everyday without fail.
Do NOT call in sick unless you are really truly sick.
Take pride and ownership in the tasks you are given and perform them as if they were yours to begin with.
Treat the work you do the same as if you owned the business.
The simple act of asking your question of 'what should I do?' here on this forum gives me the inkling that next year your return offer will be a given.
I am a software developer and what I look for with team members is the ability to work with others, always be open to the fact that the program crash was your code change. As others have said leave politics and religion at the door. Never give up on a problem, even if someone is helping you, do all the grunt work for them and do what you can to help them. Don't forget many DoD communities are very small so your rep is worth more then your skill.
