Re: Is anyone else addicted to credit?

Interesting thread, I visited this forum with the intention of confessing that I had a problem and maybe needed some help. For years I knew very little about how credit scores worked, but almost a year since I joined this site has changed that. Still, a lot I don't know but know a lot more now than a year ago.

Perhaps there should be some sort of support group. Hi, I'm DynamicVB and I'm addicted to myFico forums. :-)

I'm not "addicted," I can stop any time I want!  I've done it hundreds of times!

Re: Is anyone else addicted to credit?

Being slightly (or not so slightly) obsessed with credit is way better than the alternative.  Many people out there bury their heads in the sand and pretend it doesn't exist until they need or want something that requires use of it.  I've been lucky and never been laid off or had a baddie in my life, but I've paid way too much interest over the years not paying attention.  As my retirement looms ever closer (4.5 years!) I have finally starting paying close attention, because my financial situation will be that much more precious.

Re: Is anyone else addicted to credit?

I was addicted and did a very good job at cleaning up. I have been away from this site for a long time.

I need to edit my information.

Re: Is anyone else addicted to credit?

Was for several years; a few months after my mortgage I got sloppy and stupid.

Now I don't really care that much day to day though given I still geek out trying to figure out small details in the algorithm compared to the vast majority of humanity: still an addict Smiley Happy.

Re: Is anyone else addicted to credit?

Comparing behavior among various credit scoring models - including non Fico models has been a hobby since 2014. I was a bit obsessed with how every known model would score my profile in 2015/2016. Now i'm kinda bored with the current group of models. Looking forward to some new algorithms and how they score profiles. Maybe i'll have to take another look at CreditXpert in the meantime.

Never had a reason to be concerned with credit. I don't track scores on a daily or weekly basis. I never practiced AZEO although that practice can be beneficial to boosting score on the older Fico 04 and Fico 98 models used for mortgages.

Looking forward to VS 4.0.

Re: Is anyone else addicted to credit?

I'll admit that right now I'm a bit obsessed with checking scores and reports. Once things have settled down and I'm gardening, I think I'll be less so. At the moment, I've got a lot going on so I want to see when they'll report and how they will affect scores so I'm checking at least daily, often more than that. Things I'm waiting to hit my report include: two new cards, including one for BTs, one card paid off, two others paid down below 28% (leaving no card above 28%), total CL increased by 25k from new cards and CLIs, total UTI under 8.9% either now or next month, new BT card reporting a balance of around 25%, and a new car loan.

Scores: March 21 FICO 8: EX 810, TU 808, EQ 813
AoOA: closed: 40 years, open: 30 years; AAoA: 14 years
Amex Gold, Amex Blue, Amex ED, Amex Delta Blue, Amex Hilton Surpass, BoA Platinum Plus, Chase Freedom Unlimited, Chase Amazon, Chase CSP, Chase United Explorer, Citi AA, Sync Lowes, total CL 203k
