Re: Time to end the Congrats

Nah if you dont want to say congrats there are other sites who complain about this site telling people congrats, we say congrats to congratulate someone.  Smiley Tongue  No biggie.  Post count to most people isnt the be all end all Smiley Tongue  Most people dont care.  (one of the main reasons I see people complain about the congrats posts was post count bumping, but who cares Smiley Tongue )

I dont care why they got it, if they want to post a sob story along with it, we can read that, then tell them congrats.  They are posting there to get the congrats and validation.  Its almost painful to see someone happy they got a card and then see someone else tell them you should not of got that card, heres why and all the other crap the original poster does not want to hear.  Aint nobody got time for that!  Just congrats Smiley Happy

Re: Time to end the Congrats

Myself, i don't need the cards, i really don't, i mean they are nice, and its always good for a backup if for some reason i do indeed run into needing the card, but i just like the perks, like the colors of them, and just knowing im sliding a credit card has a special place inside of me... Not to mention the message " Congrats You've Been Approved" is just another big part of it!

All of my cards are PAID IN FULL no matter what! Or, a balance is paid to almost paid in full!

You don't even want to know how many cards i've got....

Re: Time to end the Congrats

Interesting that the OP hasn't  replied.

not that I think this has to be said again, but here goes....

I offer congratulations to the approvals, removals, or any other success posted on this forum. Credit is used in EVERY aspect of your life, and it takes discipline, and patience to aquire and maintain good credit.  Furthermore, I'm an adult, and I'm the only one that has to concerned about my supposed "debt"

this is post is just hilarious

Re: Time to end the Congrats

As others have said, that was why the approvals subforum was started.  I really don't think that this part of the forum is so filled any more.   I agree that it was somewhat annoying, sometimes wanted to post "I just got approved for the Snow White Credit Card, $2 CL, I'm so psyched!!!!" to see how many "Congrats" I got  (and really it was $3).

The Congrats are sometimes unthinking (is it really good that this person who has had issues handling debt before just got a $10K card and a $5K CLI? We don't know)

But I think the problem here is largely gone.

My opinion is it isn't my place to say he or she can't handle that 10k CL and if I have nothing postive to say just don't say it

Lets face it, people apply for credit for two reasons; firstly because people desire a wallet full of cards, with all the benefits and status the card brings. Secondly, people get cards because he or she is trying to meet immediate needs. The kids need clothes, there has to be food on the table, or the rent payment has to be paid.

However, we, on this site, continue to say CONGRATULATIONS.

Why? We congratulate people for increasing debt. That makes no sense.

The questions should be, why do you need this card; what is your repayment plan; and how much money can you afford toward yet another debt obligation.

50 percent of the posts here simply say "Congrats", just think before you post, and may ask some questions.

+1

And think before pushing, the CREDITEE to get the 3 x CLI after 60 days ...

More Congrats posts= Money in the bank for site owners.

It honestly depends on each individual person. Not all of us think alike or live under the same circumstances.

I don't see cards as debt. I treat them as cash. I only use what I know I can pay back in full. And at the same time, I get points or cash back. It's definitely a win for me, and for other people too. Therefore, that, to me, deserves a congrats Smiley Happy

Same here; I use my cards for points/cash back. I have to buy food, gas, clothes, etc anyway so I may as well get a little something back. Smiley Happy I always PIF and live well within my means so I think I deserve congrats too. Cat Happy
