What is the lowest credit card SL that is acceptable for you?

I know we don't always get the high number we want so what number would be acceptable. Mines use to be 10k but I'm ok with 5k. What about you?

For me, it depends on the card's purpose.   If I want it just for miscellaneous monthly spend,  I can live with $3K - $5K.

But if it's a card meant for larger expenses like maybe travel, or a low APR card for unplanned large purchases  - then I want at least $10K.

Re: What is the lowest credit card SL that is acceptable for you?

As a general rule, for cards that would be used for monthly spend in a specific category, I base it on keeping my spend under 30% of the card's limit. If I don't think I can get a limit meeting those parameters, I'll choose another card or wait until I feel my file will support that limit.

For me as long as a card can grow, I'm fine with low SL.

Re: What is the lowest credit card SL that is acceptable for you?

I only care about high spending power on the cards that occasionally get high spend: Premium Rewards, BBP, Schwab...and until recently CSR and CFU. If I plan to use a card a lot, I'd be irked with less than $20k.

But on most cards I don't care, since the rewards are mediocre or capped. Or I may just have the card for a perk and only spend to keep it active.

Personal spend: Amex Gold, Amex Schwab Plat., BofA PR+CCR(x2), Costco
Business use: Amex Bus. Plat., BBP, Lowes Amex AU, CFU AU
Perks: Delta Plat., United Explorer, IHG49, Hyatt, "Old SPG"
Mostly SD: Freedom Flex, Freedom, Arrival
Upgrade/Downgrade games: ED, BCE
SUB chasing: AA Platinum Select

Re: What is the lowest credit card SL that is acceptable for you?

I would say 10K for me because it is the lowest i have ever received. If i receive lower than my lowest line then i would get irkish. All my cards have been born with 10K so if i receive less than whats usual... it would kinda of not be acceptable. But to tell you the truth i can manage with 5K SL but yeah in my case 10K has been the standard so i hope it keeps there or it starts at a higher SL.

Well I was just given a $300 SL on a Macys card. So it looks like I'm ok with $300 Smiley Happy

^ this.

While I love seeing $5K+ approvals, the reality is that I just need whatever it is to make the purchase (it's very rare I have a 4 digit purchase unless I buy a new TV) and I will grow it from there.
