I use a GTD (Getting Things Done) app to remind me to pay bills as well as every other thing in my life I have to get done. I like having all of this stuff in one place.
I've used all manner of task manger/GTD apps for the years, Remember the Milk, Gmail Tasks, iOS Tasks, etc. etc., but my favorite is Todoist - https://en.todoist.com/
I highly recommend it. You can put your bills in a "project" to isolate that. Install the phone app and get reminders on yoru phone. It also has Google Calendar integration if you do that.
I don't work for Todoist, just a big fan.
I use mint bills for there reminders. I do not pay through them because the one time I did they took forever. But it is awesome for reminders.
I just use my gmail calendar to setup reminders and notifications. Because all my devices sync with my gmail calendar, I get notifications on any device I happen to be closest to at the time and I get email notifications as well, which helps for when I quickly dismiss a reminder while doing something else.
I only have autopay setup for the cards that have regular recurring charges setup on them and for installment loans. The cards that don't I rely on the reminders to get me to login, check balance, pay off if any. I've also setup the statement cut dates for the 2nd and the 17th between my cards, so I always have cards I can use without worrying about a balance reporting that I don't want reporting and so that there are two fixed times a month I need to absolutely take care of bills.
I probably use the most archaic system.
I just log on a few times per week on each card to check for due dates, pending charges, and posted activity. I sign up for due date alerts, auto-pay for the minimum (in case I forget), and just place a reminder on my phone. All things being equal, I always "push" a payment rather than having it "pulled" from the issuer's site.
That's it.
I use the notes app on my iphone, it's surprisingly astute! It syncs seamlessly with the notes app my macbook/ipad so I always know where I stand wherever and with whatever device I'm using. Yes it's a painfully manual approach, but for me that's a good thing, I'm a control freak lol

Since I am rebuilding, I have opened several cards (QS1, First Premier, Shell Gas Card, Amazon Store Card, WalMart Card, Goodyear).
This is quite an influx of new monthly bills. To be honest, I'm paranoid about missing a payment. The money isn't a problem, but I dont want it to slip my mind.
What organizational systems are ya'll using to keep up with them all? I am not an organized person really, but I do want to keep everything in order so that I NEVER miss a payment!
I've been using an Excel spreadsheet for years, works for me, haven't been late on a payment since I started using it.
I use a similar spreadsheet for my UTI, DTI, monthly budget, etc
I have everything running through my Discover card right now, so I just log in every three days or so and pay the balance. I use my BCE for groceries once a month, so I log in as soon as it posts and pay that off as well. Anything that can't go on Discover and that is not groceries, may go on my Quicksilver, but I always pay it as soon as it posts. I can't stand having a balance, so I don't ever worry about missing a payment, since I pay as much as I can. I have an unhealthy fear of being in debt, so I try to use my credit cards as debit cards all the time.
I guess I'm still old school, lol, I use a pen and notebook. I write down the month's bills, their due dates, balances owed, amount paid and the date paid. I always start the following month 2 weeks early. So September the 15th I'll make the column for Octobers bills and so forth and so on. I pay everything I can online and have a folder named receipts in my email program, Outlook, so when I pay a bill and get the conformation I just drag it to the folder. Also, I get email alerts when my bills are due and I check each credit card account at least twice a month. I have done this for the last three years and so far it has worked for me.
