At first it was to learn, which I did and still am. Second it was to improve, which I did and still am. Third it's to help others learn and improve and lastly, it's just fun. I really enjoy reading of others' successes and experiences.
For me it was help recovering from BK. Staying here helps remind me where I was before and helping to not make some of the same mistakes. If I can help others along the way, even better.

Some of us have reached them, some of us continue to reach for them. Some of us are satisfied with where we are and no longer are trying to achieve goals but to maintain what we have. AND to also offer some advice, from prior mistakes and learning experiences that we've come across.
For me, it's been a long journey from the 500s to where I am today. Creditwise, I'm happy with where I am. Could it be better? Yeah, probably. But where I am is a far cry better than in the past, the not so distant past. So....I've got all the toys I need, I can just enjoy the sandbox now!

You have such am impressive card line up and am amazing scores. I wanna be like you some day!
I joined to learn better overall financial habits and from others mistakes. Money was never a conversation my parents had with me, and everyone on here has the same goal and mindset, which is to improve their credit and financial health. After filing BK I felt like I failed myself and disappointed my creditors, being on here has helped me feel better about my past and has helped me look at my past more positively so I can move forward, and what better way to do that than to surround yourself with positive people.
I was rebucketed from another credit board.
I came to myfico to help me understand credit cards its somany things ive never new about these cards but i have a great understanding now about them and the best times to apply for them yesturday i had a headed conversation with my ex about how inportant it was to stay on top of your score but like everybody else i talked to about credit cards she says i dont need credit cards for anything i just pay cash. i told her about this site and now she wants to join after looking at it this site is very helpful
First, to stop making financial mistakes. Then to clean my reports. Then to raise my scores to buy a house. Then to learn to make credit cards work for me. Accomplished all that and now I hang around to play whack-a-mole with those that try to troll on the boards.
I thought I knew enough about credit, but then I stumbled into this place and discovered that the collective brain of MyFicoans surpassed anything I could ever achieve on my own.
For a while I was also using MyFico to learn about and app for credit cards with the best benefits. Now that I've got more than I need I find that MyFico is the best place to learn about changes in the credit world like cards being nerfed, the Costco-Amex breakup, etc.
Financial downfall during a crisis. I knew I needed to do something, but I didn't know what/when/how. Ole Google had me at several sites, and this one...well like a good first date, I wanted to come back to.
I still would rather have a colonoscopy without sedation than do any form of math, HOWEVER with this site:
Sockdrawered my Debit Card.
Have a no fee checking and savings account.
More than tripled my available credit.
Taxes are paid on everyday items thanks to CashBack.
Travel in style with discounts for upgrades. Bye Economy and Checked bag fee.
Grew cojones and delt with not taking NO for an answer by learning my consumer laws.
Gift myself and fam with reward point merchandise. Have yet to buy DLC for my Playstation Games.
Planning my portofolio for End of 2016 now and it's actually fun. Who'd a' thunk I'd like that? Not the year ago BuYao!
I was denied for an auto loan last year. I finally showed up here and discovered i had 4 or 5 CC's and 2 Auto loans reporting (all closed) from before the recession but nothing recent active/positive (lived overseas for 6 years). I also discovered a monster tax lien. Read some more posts and took baby steps to start putting some green marks on my reports. 1 year later and 282,810 posts read (real number), I have my car and am diversified for emergencies. My scores are (on occasion) almost 100 points higher.
I will definitely stay longer as my awareness of financial health has improved drastically since joining the forum and wish to continue. My next steps are saving and funding multiple accounts while passing on the knowledge others have been kind enough to share with me.
