Hi!
I have been trying to find some clarity, so hopefully somebody can help me. I entered a repayment plan with Sallie Mae and have been making regular payments for the past 2 years. $8,000 later, and they are still reporting negatively on my credit report. It says I am 120 days behind and "arrangements made with credit grantor to make partial payments."
I have made several phone calls to them. I will get transferred to "my account specialist" who happens to be a very nasty individual. He says everything is reported correctly, and I know it is not.
I would really love to get this fixed. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Were you ever late? Did you make arrangements for partial payments at any time? Can you speak to a supervisor?
That is rotten, I'm sorry you're going through this! Do you have records of your payments from the last two years? Maybe you can send copies of those directly to the credit bureau to dispute.
Oh, I was late for several years. I was denied deferment and was going through financial hardship.
But back in late 2009, early 2010, I came to them and wanted to know if I could get on a plan to pay them back, you know, kind of wipe the slate clean. Since then I've been paying every month, on time. I never agreed to pay a partial amount - the entire loan will be paid off.
I also did ask to speak with a supervisor and was drilled about why I wanted to clear up my credit report - and that if I planned on buying anything I needed to not buy it, and send my money directly to them. Then he proceeded to hang up on me! I was mortified and furious. Recently I called back and spoke with another employee who said that because of the payment plan that I am on, they will continue to report negatively to the bureaus unless I pay the entire loan off.
I am in no way asking for them to say I've made perfect payments, or report anything that is not true - I just want it to be shown that I have been making payments, on-time, for the past 2 years. It's been a horrible experience.
I also do have proof that I have been making payments - both on THEIR website (odd, right?) and through my bank account.
I'm at my wits end!!
Is this for Horizon Student Loan Relief? I see the website as www.fixmystudentloans.com.
These are not federal loans - can you still help me?
Not to get your hopes up, but they just joined the forum today and every single post (until they were confronted) has just been to advertise what seems to be Horizon Debt Group. Or something.
I wouldn't contact them, send them any personal information, or feed the troll.
There is relief coming, but some companies will take advantage of folks in similar positions. I'm not saying that poster is one such person, but I would never work with someone who is advertising their "business" on a forum.
Apandabear - I completely agree! I fully intend on researching any business up and down before I even think of giving them any info.
I just want this fiasco to end!
I couldn't agree more!! Bailosaur ...I sent you a PM about this as well. Just as a heads-up!

The behavior from that supervisor is ridiculous and abusive!! Since you have the records of your on-time payments, perhaps you could call the Office of the Customer Advocate at Sallie Mae and see if they can help you. The normal "customer service" people are basically little more than collection agents. If that doesn't work, you could send copy of your proofs of payment directly to the credit bureaus along with a dispute letter.
Good luck!!
