Today one inquiry that was already over 2 years old was removed and my Ex Fico score increased by 3 points.
I always knew that an inquiry only affects the score for 1 year.
Then there's no other explanation since this is the only change to my credit file today. Nothing else happened to my credit file today, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Not even a payment reported, nothing...

It wasn't the removal of that inquiry. Something else happened in the background. It could be anything from a minor change in utilization, to an old card dropping off/new card being added, or the general answer for when nobody knows what happened, "you got a change in scorecards."
After 12 months, inquiries have zero, absolutlely no effect on FICO scores on any model. It would be like seeing a slight change in the spelling of your name on your credit report due to a typo and then attributing the score change to that typo change. Completely unrelated.
When you get a score change it is not necessarily the thing that triggered the monitoring service to update. It is the sum total of everything that has happened since that monitoring service last updated that particular score.
And frankly 3 points is just statstical noise.

You compared your credit report from today with your report from yesterday, and one inquiry was missing? I thought that experian.com just removed the inquiries on the first of the month. Maybe I'm wrong.

I feel no one really knows, some say a year where the points come back. In my case that didnt happen, I experienced what you did as well a pt gain of 4 when an INQ fell off my report.

I'll take 3 pts if I am at 797...so I could say I hit 800 ![]()

Then it should be the last one, ("the general answer for when nobody knows what happened, "you got a change in scorecards.")
Because I'm pretty much sure that nothing else happened since I checked my credit score last night and it was 775.

Yes, I checked it last night.
Actually, the inquiry's second birthday was April 23, but it got removed today May 7.
Usually, Ex removes my inquiries the first 10 days of the following month after 2 years.

Exactly, this is the second time that this happens to me, so go figure...

Experian removes them on the first Sat of the following month, unless that Sat is the 1st on the calendar. Than it's the second Sat of that given month.

@CH-7-Mission-Accomplished . . . To me, I want every point that I can get . . . three points can make a difference between poor and fair . . . fair and good . . . good and very good and very good and excellent/exceptional. I'm still trying to get four points from Equifax so I can have 800 across all three CRAs.
