We have about six accounts AUed between us. In May my SO acquired the Citi Ax. It really didn't fit into my scheme of things but I did click on the AU button anyway.
I never dreamed I would receive such a boost. It did have a sizable limit but with a moderate BT. I hope TU takes notice.
I suppose this just emphasizes the importance of UTL on the score.

Util is about 30% of your FICO...which is why it's important to getCC paid down.
Good for you. I don't understand EQ. I've been at 698 well over a year. Can not move it to save my soul not even two points for a 700. My BK comes off in Dec (should be Nov.) Also I got a cli for 2500 and my newest acct. is 18 months. I don't know what it takes. They hate me.......sigh.......
BTW My utilization runs between 1 and 5%. do you think I should up it?
casinoannie -
How many cards do you have? What type are they? What are the CL's on each?
1-5% is ideal - upping your overall utilization (in my experience) will drop points. You may need to add a card, or change the mix.
i've got 6 open credit cards, no mix at all. A BK from '99 and I usually pif. I have 10 closed accts. I just got a cli taking me from 5000. to 7500. My lowest cl is 1900 from HSBC. I should have stayed with Orchard but they charged a fee. So I have 1750, 1900, 3000, 5400, 6500 and 7500. I don't understand my scoring as they all stay the same. Mybe I should take a hit and open a store card???? I'd like a Kohls for the specials. I had two car loans which are paid off but still reporting. I have a lot of internet store cards but they don't report. My home is paid off.
EQ 698
TU 733
EX 761 (plus score)
btw; KOHLS is a Chase card. I guess I won't mess with another one of their cards
Casinoannie97: Maybe some of the experts can weigh in here.
DH got a few points when he added a store card to his 5 credit cards. He did not take a point hit on the inquiry - and he has four inquiries (on EQ) in last 3 months.
Maybe an active installment (do you need one?) would improve your mix - esp. as you've no mortgage (Way to go!!!! Someday.....) DH did have an 804 on EQ with no mortgage but one installment reporting (before the store card was added).
Good luck.
Edit: And of course in a few months when that bk falls off, you will see a big jump. DH saw - well - you won't have any problem hitting 800. Especially since you've been building your credit - very smart. Congratulations!!!
Annie,
Also do the score simulator on myfico - that's fun and may give you an idea of what shakes things up. You've been stable for awhile - newest card is 18 mos., no inquiries, no installment or mortgages balances being paid down. So I guess it makes sense that your score is stable, too! Plus, it's a very nice score .
EQ has always been the last to give me points and always the lowest.

the 698 from EQ is out of whack. It says good credit but it's not. you need at least a 705. I would just like to see that 2 pts. put me in the 700 club.
I did the score thing and it says I should be much higher. Also says excellent credit instead of good.
My Fico factors affecting my score are very good, great, good and very good on both reports yet EQ is 35 points lower than TU. strange.
