60-points in 6-months?

Hello!

Have any of you seen/heard of someone successfully pulling their FICO 04 from 520's to 580's in just six months?  Seems as though the biggest obstacle is payment history and a few older collections (2-5yrs old).  Income is very good and reliable.  Savings is building rapidly.  Both auto loans are current and we each just recently obtained unsecured Cap1 cards.  Only other credit is student loans (also current).

Just wondering what is feasible - six months or twelve (or eighteen).

Thanks!

EQ Beacon 5.0:
12/30/11: 561
06/29/12: 631

12/28/12: 652

Doable depending what's in your file now, all my issues were from late 2010, none were deleted in the timeframe posted; opened 3 credit cards, 2 installment loans

See about addressing those old derogatories in the rebuilding forum, otherwise you're pretty much set with your current tradelines.

Re: 60-points in 6-months?

I went from 586 in October '14 to 696 now. It took a lot of work (time more than anything), a few thousand dollars and several stressfull days in between, but I did it. I'm still working on getting my 2 charge offs removed, but I've resigned to the fact that Capital One and First Premier will NEVER agree to delete and I'm just going to have to let time do it's thing.

My advice is to start GW'ing those late payments and collections in your history.  Be prepared to spend some cash settling, if they're currently unpaid tho.

Re: 60-points in 6-months?

EQ 525 to 555 since 12/26/14
EX 540 to 579 since 12/26/14
(FICO 5 AND FICO 2)

It can be done, just like many folks say on here, hard work, $$, and time...

FICO scores are just a snapshot of what is on your profile.   Therefore, the scoring can change as quickly as updates are made to your reports.

I recommending posting in our "Rebuidling Your Credit" forum for ideas on addressing your collections and payment history issues.   You may be able to attempt PFD (pay for delete) on the collections.   If they are paid, you can try GW (goodwill) requests for removal.   GW requests can also be made for lates.

Positive credit will also help.  This section of the board might help you understand how to maximize UTIL (utilization of credit limits) to improve your scores.

Good luck and we hope to hear about your successes!

Re: 60-points in 6-months?

well since November i'm between 44 and 53 points up.  i started with opening up a couple of cc and now i have 3.  I have not done much but use the cards and pay them off.  I did have one collection fall off but there are more to go.  But the good thing is i'm seeing results.  I'm sticking to the plan of using the cards but having them show at 0 balance except for one. I finally hit 600+ on one of the CA so i'm feeling good.  But it is a mountain and I just started the climb.  But trust me... if I can do it, you can.
