This morning I was checking my email, and saw a message from Experian saying I'd had a Score 8 increase (yes, I've signed up to get messages from Experian directly). Imagine my shock when I saw I'd received an 89 point jump from 721 to 810! This isn't showing up in MyFICO as of yet. I can't seem to figure out why my score would jump this far up. I can't see anything dropping off my report, I've really been gardening for 6+ months.
I mean, I love it, but is it possible it's incorrect?
Not enough info to even speculate. Do you have old lates or delinquencies? Any large payments made lately?
Since you have Experian monitoring and myFICO ..
open Experian report from Experian monitoring - dated today
open your Experian report from myFICO - which is definitely older
then compare
Which specific score is that from Experian that you're getting? I'm assuming Score 8, but don't want to be wrong about that.
There are very few profile-changing events outside of a major negative item coming off your CR that would result in a gain that large. Anything else such as maxed out aggregate utilization paid down to ideal utilization for example you'd surely know about.
Have you compared your before/after reports to look for changes?
I do have one negative. It was a 90 late on a mortgage payment from 7 years ago, but it is not slated to fall off until August 2021.
Could it have come off early? I can't really tell from looking at the Experian report.
Otherwise, I've been "gardening" for more than 6 months. No big payments, no changes to speak of.

Yes, I would say this is exactly what happened. In that case, congratulations!
You should be able to tell from looking at that account on your Experian report. It should state if there's a 90D late payment on it or not.
Have you looked at your TU/EQ reports? When that 90D falls off of those you should see similar significant score gains.

That must be it.
Congratulations!

If you go to the EX website and login instead of on the app, you should be able to see the full payment history and determine if the late fell off. If it was a string of lates, they all may have aged off together (EX drops strings of lates). If it didn't drop, I would be curious to know!
After taking a minute to really look at the Experian report, it does look like it dropped off... early. Weird. well, gee, I hope the others do the same! Regardless, I'll take it!
Whew, this has been a long strange trip! a bit more than 7 years ago, I lost my job, I nearly lost my house (but managed to sell it at a tidy profit, before it went into forclosure), got into some deep but unavoidable CC debt (over 30K worth), had a tax lien for another 27K, almost had my car repossesed. Luckily, I was able to dodge bankrupsy. 7 years of hard work have really paid off! I have one TINY little thing left to clear up, a medical bill that's in collections, but I'll pay that off next month and attempt to get that removed all together. Once I do that, I'll be in perfect shape! I feel like the weight on my shoulders is lifted!
It does look like it was a string of lates and they all fell off together! I like it!
Thanks all!
Sounds like you've overcome quite a bit and are on the right track, so good job with all of that.
Interesting that you mentioned a collection, as it clearly isn't on your report currently. I would do everything in your power to handle it before it reports, as once it does it could take a lot more work to get rid of it. As for the other 2 bureaus, you could contact them and request an early exclusion of that late payment that fell off on the 1 bureau so far. It can't hurt to ask.
