Re: All zeroes in a thin file --> 31 points down

It gets even more complicated 😪

So 2 CCs and 1 AU?

So for best score on that profile, small balance on one of their own cards and small balance on the AU too. But here is the catch, thats __only__ for Fico 8 and 9 scores.

The older scores behave differently lol.

So if they're going for a mortgage, where the older scores come into play, they gotta have no balance on the AU and practice the more traditional AZEO.

So that profile has to choose, stronger older scores and weaker newer scores

Or

Stronger newer scores and weaker older scores.

Re: All zeroes in a thin file --> 31 points down

You got the right idea.

So 2 accounts in user's profile and then 1 AU?

For the best Fico score for 8 and 9 this is what you/they need to focus on,

A balance on the AU and a balance on 1 of their own accounts. That produces the most ideal score.

Everything else is in the middle. And the drop off from ideal to middle is significant too, so its best to always be cognizant before an app where they stand from here on out, because the point shift can be extreme as you saw. Imo, the drop in points or raise is always extreme.

And again, this is ONLY for the Fico 8 and 9 scores.

So if they're ever preparing for a mortgage, the rules go back to traditional AZEO. I forget which bureau, but the data points on that were also extreme on a few specific scores.

So be aware what is about to be pulled and for what (CC Fico8/9 vs. mortgage Fico5/4/2) and micromanage it to be prepared to have profile set up for the right situation, because the shift in points isn't negligible

Holy cow.

Question: The AU card usually reports a zero balance. If it were permitted to report a small balance, would that count towards AZEO and remove the penalty?

@omgitsMatt  found that there is a double penalty for All Zero with an AU card. It looks like this is more confirmation of what he found.

AU experiment & score drops from small balance to $0 balance

I don't know what to make of that thread. Is it saying that there is a penalty for one's AU account reporting at zero? Is it saying that:

1 account at zero, 1 account with small balance, 1 AU with small balance = best

1 account at zero, 1 account with small balance, 1 AU at zero = 2nd best

2 accounts at zero + 1 AU with small balance = 3rd best

2 accounts at zero + 1 AU at zero = the worst

This all assumes the AU isn't being whacked or busted by the anti-abuse algorithm in FICO 8/9 Smiley Wink

There's at least two states for AU's on the newer algorithms; on FICO 04 and earlier they are full Monty just like any other revolver.

Yes as mentioned this was all about FICO 8.
