Amount Of Debt -- Only Good?

My utilization is 1%, accounts with balance ranges from 8 to 12 ( although I question that... I pay off every month). Yet my amount of debt is only good? I do have a student loan still, from 10 years ago, and a car payment that's almost paid off, about 5k left. What gives?

Re: Amount Of Debt -- Only Good?

You'll need to be more specific about what you're looking at. "Amount of debt" is subjective. The fact that you question what you're seeing as balances is troubling, which again not sure what you're looking at.

Keep in mind that most creditors report when your statement is cut, so that is the balance on your account from a credit perspective. Sure, you pay it off when it is due, but you'll need to pay before your statement cuts if you want the credit report to show paid off.

Re: Amount Of Debt -- Only Good?

Where are you seeing "amount of debt"?

Also, if your instalment utilization is high, that might be what you are seeing. "Debt" does not necessarily mean revolving utilization.

What were the starting balances on the student & auto loans, and what are they now?

This one line is where more clarification is needed. You post util % is 1%. Although the account with balances ranges from 8-12. Is that usage your talking about before the statement cuts? If thats how many are reporting. You must have a whole lot of cards with low balances that report. So the question is. How many report a balance each month. Usage vs whats reported is 2 different things. When you say I pay off every month. FICO will ding you for having no revolving accounts report a balance come statement date.
