CA doesn't disclose DOFD

I recently spoke with my very last collection.  I have attempted disputing it several times.  It got deleted through TU, remains on EX, and I am unable to contact EQ to dispute.  I contacted the CA to inquire on the DOFD.  They danced around and gave me other dates, then proceded to tell me the date of deletion is 7 1/5 years from the date reported to the agency (which I know is not true).  Is it an automatic deletion if they can not retrieve the DOFD?

DOFD is generally obtained from the CRA.

Why can't you contact EQ?

Re: CA doesn't disclose DOFD

I have made numerous attempts to go through csc, without success.  I finally called eq directly today, and waited on the phone for 20 minutes without an answer.  I guess I will have to keep calling until I get through.  Thanks for the info on the DOFD.  These threads are very useful, but there is just so much in them to learn.  Sorry if my questions are repetitions from other threads.

No worries.

PS... If your file is handled by CSC EQ won't do anything for you.

Re: CA doesn't disclose DOFD

If the same collection is listed on EX, doesn't their report display a "this will be removed on" date? If so, that removal date would be DOFD + 7 years or thereabouts.

Perhaps.. don't assume the other CRAs have the same info. Smiley Happy

Re: CA doesn't disclose DOFD

My collection isn't supposed to fall off until mid year 2008.  I disputed it on TU and it got deleted.  EX doesn't show the date.  EQ, I can't even access CSC to get a copy of my credit report.  I was surprised when my last collection fell off of TU, my credit score did not go down.  Maybe in time, I will enter the cleaner, nicer pool and it will have a negative effect.  I am just anxious to have all of the baddies gone.

If you have some time to kill, you could try calling EX and asking for the DOFD. Also, are you looking at your EX report data through a service like TrueCredit, or did you actually get a credit report directly from EX? My wife requested a free copy of her EX report through annualcreditreport.com and that report showed the removal date for the bogus collection on her CR.

Tuscani's right, a CA could report different DOFDs to each CRA. But if the account number, balance, and other dates for this collection are the exact same on the CRs from both EQ and EX, there's a good chance the DOFD would be the same.

Re: CA doesn't disclose DOFD

I tried that today..... Explained what a DOFD was 3 times to the slug on the other end of the line. I kept getting the date of last activity. Which if I am not mistaken is not necessarily the same as the DOFD since I have made a few payments on it since it went bad. Another sterling example of EQ.

Re: CA doesn't disclose DOFD

Just consider yourself lucky your acct is through eq.  CSC is repeatedly unavailable to ask questions or dispute.  I contacted EX today and they were more than happy to verify my information, as well as TU.  I am anxiously awaiting Oct. for my last collection to fall off. (If I don't have to fight for my eq to be corrected)!!!!!
