Re: Chapter 13 Bankruptcy Removed and Score Dropped!!!

@Anonymous

If possible can you post the score reasons/factors on your credit report for the bureau(s) that dropped both before and after the bankruptcy 13 dropped off your credit report.  The score reasons/factors are the four items impacting your score the most. The impact can be good or bad. This may help in understanding why the score changed.

South Jamaica; Why would you be skeptical? I have fine combed all three reports; nothing else has changed other than the BK removal. I dont have my list of gardened credit cards posted below; but trust me... I have my fair share, but there is NOTHING else going on.

I have busted my behind to get my credit score up since I filed due to my divorce.  I'm a little offended of you think/know comment.

Positive or knowledgeable comments only please.

Sorry you're offended. I didn't mean to offend you.  I just mean I think you're missing something.

You need to search the report the day of the score change and the report from the day before the score change to figure it out.

I've never heard of the dropping of a bankruptcy from a report causing a score decrease in any score model; it always causes an increase.

The advice you'd been given, about it being an "old account" that dropped off, is just wrong; a bankruptcy is not an "account", it is a derogatory public record.

While it is likely that it caused a rebucketing if it was your only derogatory entry, I don't think the rebucketing would have cost you sufficient points to cause a score drop.

Felt the need to chime in @Anonymous  in regards to @SouthJamaica .  I have been a member a little over a year and lurked for far more time than that and I have to say it's almost an unwritten atmosphere for the members of this forum to assist, inform, suggest, help, and not offend anyone.

No question is ever dumb and we are all learning and finding out the many many twist and turns of credit with the help of knowledgable individuals and data points shared through unique experiences.

I have read many posts from Southjamaica and have never seen any created other than for the purpose of sharing or helping others and not judging.

Many times things are unique to a person's individual credit report (Profile Specific) and even when looking at your report you may not be able to see what exactly caused a point increase or decrease.

There are things such as scorecards that could cause certain point movements to occur that one can only guess at but not know for sure.

One thing (anyone can correct me if wrong) about scorecards is when you move from one to another you are compared to the individuals on that scorecard. You could have been on the top of a bad scorecard and moved to the bottom of a good one causing a score change. Another thing is your ceiling for gaining more points is raised by going to a better score card while previously it was limited on a lesser scorecard.

Sorta like you were a Senior in grammar school but now a freshman in high school or a senior in highschool but now you're a freshman in college.

YMMV (your miles may vary) means someone could gain points due to their scorecard and you could lose points (or remain the same) for the same occurence on yours.

There are a lot of general consensus that certain events cause certain actions but the degree of those actions can vary.

Due to different CRAs and different algortithms and different Fico scores (classic, bankcard, auto, mortgage) there's a host of things happening in front so you can pretty much tell whats happening and a host of things in the back where you can only guess what's happening.

One thing is for sure if you pay on time, keep utilization low, and age your reports your score will definitely keep rising and with different little tweaks like AZEO (all zeros except one-paying all balances to zero except one major cc reporting a small balance) your score can acheive max points.

Everything may not agree with our logic for example if you pay off all your credit cards you will lose points because you get penalized for doing that even though our logic says that's a good thing and we should gain points.

Hope this helps a bit.

No you didn't confuse me, I understand. It makes perfect sense. My scores couldn't have gone any higher in that particular bucket. I will continue to press through. I just have to remember to use my cc's each month (small balances) and pay them prior to reporting.

Re: Chapter 13 Bankruptcy Removed and Score Dropped!!!

@Iusedtolurk Thanks for the response. I get it now. I'm in Grad school now! I was a little offended because the reply was so short. Obviously, if I had any idea as to what was going on; I wouldn't have asked the question.  I just needed a break down and each of you have helped me including South Jamaica. (ironically we'll be heading to Negril (West Jamaica) for Christmas!) I will be monitoring my scores and continuing to do what I've been doing.

Thanks for the help

What is the age of your oldest account and the age of your oldest Revolving account before and after the change? How many accounts were removed?

Re: Chapter 13 Bankruptcy Removed and Score Dropped!!!

@Anonymous  The age of the oldest account is about 15 years.  The oldest revolving account is about 5-6 years. The only accounts that were removed were a couple paid off loans and a credit card that was removed because Wayfair decided to go with Synchrony instead of Comenity; so the card was closed.  The account was in good standing.

@Anonymous by the way, if you'd like to learn more about bucketing or scorecard assignment, if you would read the first post under Scorecard Basics in the Scoring Primer linked at the top of my signature, I think it will shed a lot of light on things for you.

How much of a drop in average age did it cause you to lose those accounts? You didn't lose your oldest account/revolver thankfully. And may I ask how many accounts you have open in good standing? I ask to rule out the too few accounts paid on time metric.

it would really be awesome to get your before and after negative Reason Codes. Those accounts, the BK, they were all removed the same day?

@Anonymous

The scores dropped about 13 points for Experian and Exquifax.  The BK was removed two separate days; however the mortgage scores went up (Experian went up).  I have about 40 other accounts; that are all in excellent standing (including freaking student loans.)  I don't have any late payments or derogatory accounts.

Re: Chapter 13 Bankruptcy Removed and Score Dropped!!!

@Anonymous Can you please help me locate the Negative Reason Codes and Scorecard Basics in the Score Primer section?  I can't find it.

@Anonymous Yes it's obviously not that metric then if you have a clean record. Just click on the first link in my signature for Scoring Primer and scroll down and it's in the first post with the heading that says Scorecard basics. For negative Reason codes click on second link in my signature that will lead you to that. Let me know if you have a problem finding it.
