Credit score craziness

So, I'm new here... and super confused.

I just pulled a tri-merge credit report from Experian's website TODAY.  My scores were 738, 750 and 747. This is virtually the same as the prior two months.  My score provied by Discover card shows 682 and my score provided by Walmart shows 725.  Are the Discover and Walmart card scores not real scores?  I would assume since I'm pulling my credit and scores from Experian directly that they are the real deal.  My Discover card score worries me as it is FAR lower than my 3-score report from Experian and even lower than my score provided by Walmart.  Why do they make this so complex and there is appears to be no consistency amongst the scores provided?  I get that there will be differences between the 3 credit bureau scores, but such a large difference for my score provided by Discover.

Everybody has a "different" version of FICO or FAKO scores. Therefore, even across multiple bureaus with the same exact information, scores can be different.

The ones you bought through Experian, unfortunately, are "FAKO" scores. I don't know of any lender that uses the scores you get through Experian.

The ones offered by Walmart and Discover I can't remember if they are the same scoring model, though they're both suppose to be TU FICOs. Keep in mind that if each score was pulled on a different day, that could cause your scores to fluctuate based on what's reporting at the time.

Hope that helped a little, all the very best!

Re: Credit score craziness

Thanks DayBreak,

I'm confused though.  Isnt' Experian one of the three major reporting bureaus?  Why would their score(s) be FAKO scores?

If you want to know your Fico scores you must pull your scores from myfico. Experian will not give the fico scores they give you FAKO scores. Yes they are one of the major bureaus but they do not give out fico scores ( SORRY )

Re: Credit score craziness

They would have to pay FICO to use the scores and pay for as many times as they pulled your scores for you (daily). So it is more profitable to develop their own model.

Re: Credit score craziness

Because they are bureau they are not creators of fico. They are using vantage and plus scores. Not ficos. Equifax is only one using fico scores. Trust the lender is the only thing to do. Anything else you can trash. But they will tell you if your score is going up or down. It's not hard to understand once you look deep enough.

+1

OP: EX, TU, and EQ are all credit bureaus. They are simply a company that takes information from your creditors and organizes it into a report.

FICO, on the other hand, is a separate company that utilizes the information from TU, EX, and EQ and develops scoring models based on what is on those credit bureau's reports.

TU, EX, and EQ, therefore, often create their own models to sell to the public/possibly private credit or credit-check companies to compete with FICO.

Yes they are REAL FICO scores

Sorry all, I feel like I've been ripped off.  This is so confusing because I paid Experian $40 to get my three-bureau credit report AND 3 credit scores. If they are not my real scores, this sounds like fraud to me.  I would have never paid had I known that they were not my actual scores.  This is depressing.  Is there a website I can go to where I get my ACTUAL 3 credit bureau scores?  Please go easy on me - I'm not trying to sound stupid but it just seems like provided fake scores and charging for them should be illegal.
