Disputing a Hard Pull

Example: Car dealership wants to run your credit before allowing you to test drive a specialty car (Corvette for example).  You tell them it's ok ONLY if it's a SOFT PULL.  They say yes its a soft pull.  A couple days later and myFICO say ALERT ALERT ALERT you have a new hard inquiry on all three bureaus.  Can the hard pull be disputed and removed from your credit report?  How would it be disputed?  I'm assuming the same as disputing anything else.  And would the arguement stand?  They want to check credit to see if you're qualified enough to test drive, however you're not "asking" for the credit pull because i'm not yet interested in buying.

A lot of rambling here.  What do you folks think?

Re: Disputing a Hard Pull

No chance honestly; regardless of what the sales person said they had permissible purpose.

Wouldn't worry about it generally unless you have a big ticket item coming up inquiries are pretty minor for all things not mortgage middle tiering.
