Here's what I've discovered about how FICO 9 works.
Three major changes from FICO 8.
1, Unpaid medical bills in collections have less negative impact on FICO® Score 9 credit scores than with previous FICO® scoring models. Also, unpaid medical bills sent to collections agencies will have less impact on FICO® Score 9 credit scores than nonmedical debt.
2, Previously, even paid debts — medical and nonmedical — sent to a collections agency reflected poorly on a consumer’s FICO® credit scores. Now, outstanding bills sent to collections and subsequently paid in full by the consumer will not negatively impact FICO® Score 9 credit scores.
3, With FICO® Score 9, rental history is now factored into these credit scores when landlords directly report the payments to one or all of the credit bureaus.
I'm not sure why FICO 9 is nearly 100 points below the EQ, TU, and EX scores, but considering that Wells Fargo is providing the FICO 9 score, they can factor in my average monthly balance and Debt-to-Income ratio based upon my account balances.
I don't understand the logic between FICO 9 and 8. My score for FICO 8 with Experian is 736 and my FICO 9 Experian score is 673. That's a 63 point difference, in the wrong direction. Why is there such a huge difference? My Transunion and Equifax FICO 9 scores are 749 and 746 respectively. What gives?
interesting....my fico 9 score has always been much higher than my 8 scores....around 40pts or more
That's why it doesn't jive with me. I've gone through every line item in all 3 credit bureau reports and the information is virtually the same, yet my Experian score, FICO 9, is much lower than the FICO 8 model.

Does your Experian credit report match your TU/EQ credit reports upon which those scores are being drawn?
