I do not have any open installment loans. I bought a car for my teen in September, but because I lived a debit card life, the interest was 19%.
At first I thought ok, you gotta start somewhere, but then I changed my mind and decided that $1500 in interest over 3 years was ridiculous. I made two payments and paid it off in the third month. Now it shows as Paid Closed. Had I known then what I know now, I'd continue paying through 6th month, then pay off. Live and learn. Meh
Keep in touch with the folks here on the forum for a good alternative to Alliant. We'll klnow more by March. The SSL Technique would be a nice choice for you, give you something to do while you wait.
In the meantime, use the card that is in your name each month for something small, let the statement print with a positive balance, then pay it off. Do that every month.
You can do the same thing with the AU card now, just to keep it active, but in the the 45 days before you get your first scores it should have a $0 balance.
