Re: Go Score and Credit Wise Fico ?

I googled GO SCORE and found this immediately:

http://goscore.merrickbank.com/goScoreFaq.aspx

You'll see that the Go Score uses FICO 8 Bankcard Enhanced as its model and it draws its data from either TransUnion or Experian.  The FAQ above explains (with picture illustrations) how to tell which bureau your score is drawn from.

I googled CREDIT WISE and immediately found this:

https://creditwise.capitalone.com/home

You'll see that Credit Wise does not use any FICO score but rather the VantageScore model.  The bureau is TransUnion.

Given that the two scores use very different models, may be drawn on different bureaus, and may also have been generated on different dates, you should certainly expect very different results.

Google knows everything.

It's important to understand that "FICO" is not synonymous with "credit score."  FICO scores are definitely the most popular scores, but the term "FICO" does not mean "credit score."  The same way someone may say, "pass me a Kleenex" when they really mean "pass me a tissue" or when you order a "Coke" in a restaurant you really mean "cola" and the server may very well hand you a Pepsi even though that's not what you ordered.

There are many providers of credit scores that are not FICO scores.  Credit Wise from Capital One which you referenced above is a perfect example, as are the scores provided by Credit Karma and Credit Sesame, two other popular sources of credit scores.  If a score is a genuine FICO score, it will state somewhere near the score or in the fine print on the page where you see the score that it is indeed a FICO score.

Hmmm <scratches head>,  I'm still wondering...

After what seemed like the longest gardening period ever, I came back with a clean slate (post 10yrs after all was erased, yeah) and apped for what would be my new first card; a secured card -- which one? Merrick Bank Visa.

I didn't know about the 6 or 7month period before generating a FICO score, but before 7 months and after; and beyond acquiring my 2nd TL  (unsecured)   all the way up to date ( 2yr  TL on Merrick) it still does not give me my "goScore" when I log in.  What gives?

I've relied on a FAKO score that entire time until joining myFICO last month so.. not so concerned anymore, but still curious.

Theories?
