HUGE score drop from new card

Three months ago I got a Slate 0% interest card for the sole purpose of transferring a balance and increasing utilization. I transferred $3000.00 to the Slate, paid off the $300 or so left on the other card, and it's now at $0. I have $4000.00 on another card  My total debt is 3%-4% of income. My utilization is around 30% now.

My score has from 740 to 681!

It's been 3 months, and it's not correcting.

Somebody please help me understand what is happening.

How are you checking your scores? Could it be that Slate is reporting the new $3,000.00 balance while the old card has not yet reported the pay off?

What's the limit on the Slate?

Also which score are you looking at specifically?

Re: HUGE score drop from new card

I looked at all 3, supposedly FICOs through my bank. They all look sad. The Slate only gave me $3000, and I had another card at about $3000, so I transferred that one.

How can the $0 balance card still be reporting after 3 dang months? I hope it's that.

I'm worried because my account mix is very poor (all credit cards, being punished for not buying cars and boats) and I have further altered my bad mix. You just never know what weird thing will bite you.

Again, I don't think that looking at your scores is enough, you need to see exactly what is reporting.

You'd probably benefit largely from the installment loan technique described on this forum multiple places as you only have CC's on your profile now.

OK. I hadn't considered that. I'll do that when I get this score fixed. I hope I get the score fixed.

What bank?

CC's offer individual credit scores, but no bank offers 3 FICO scores, none.  Most likely it's Vantage.

Re: HUGE score drop from new card

Eh. I'll go pays me money and get real scores. Most likely it's the unreported paid balance. THANKS!

Re: HUGE score drop from new card

If I understand you got a Slate with a $3000 limit and transferred $3000 to it?  If that's the case and you haven't paid it down yet it could because that card is 'maxed out'.
