Help with an old card on my report

I have a WFNNB / EXPSTR credit card and it has been un paid since about 2002, but on my credit report it is showing late 120 days on one report and charge off on the other two for every month all the way up to last month and I have not been in contact with the company since before then. Which is better to raise my score...to just pay off the collection or pay someone to have the late payments remove. It is showing that I have something like 38 or so late payments and 36 of them are that one account! Please help!

If it's truely charged off, and not into collections, I suggest you offer to PFD. DO NOT simply pay it off, until after you've offered to PFD.

The best case scenario will be that you will get the collection off your cr, which I consider that to be a "fatal baddie". But that's just me.

As far as the lates go, they will be on your CR for 7 years before they naturally drop off. But youCAN write GW letters. Sometimes they work....sometimes they don't
