Re: How does utilization work on credit report

Yes, my Fico 8 score has been at 850 since 1st reported to me by Discover Card on a 1/2014 statement. The 50% UT was 3/2014 (PIF after posting) and 80% was 5/2014 (PIF after posting) - both on my BB card.

I saw a Fico 4 score drop on an Equifax ScorePower report 6/2014 but no change in Fico 8 as reported on my Discover Card statement. I realize I am comparing results from different CBs as Discover uses TU and EQ is EQ. However, I subsequently purchased a MyFico 3B report and all three CRAs had Fico 8 at 850. So ... I am fairly confident concluding Fico 8 is less sensitive to individual card "max out UT%" than is Fico 4.

Fico 9: .......EQ 850 TU 850 EX 850

Re: How does utilization work on credit report

And it's possible that the two models (04 and 08) impose the same penalty when you get to a truly maxed out level (100% or more) but that 08 waits till higher (85%?) before imposing penalties -- at least for people with people with clean profiles, a healthy age, a healthy thickness, and a current hyperlow overall U.

That possibility would alse be consistent with your experience.

Re: How does utilization work on credit report

Might be TT, but we need more data.

I know I dropped 14 points explicitly twice on Beacon 5.0 at 97% and 99% util, but I also had 17% and 27% aggregate at the time too.  Really wish Chase hadn't given me that Freedom CLI, would've been easy to test again around Christmas when I next buy something "nice" post condo spending.

Ah well, I can max out my DCU card at $500 easily enough in a given month
