On Friday, a public record came off my TransUnion. So on Saturday, I decided to pull a new TransUnion just to verify that it came off, and it did!!! But in myfico alert monitoring, I lost 3 points for doing it. There have been no other alerts, and the graph shows -3 for pulling a new report.
Does anybody know why that would be? Quite honestly I was expecting an increase since I'm now free of any public record.

Couple of questions: do you have other derogatories on your report?
Secondly, you mentioned pulling a new TU report, where from? If it was from MF, that's the current score strange as it might sound at first blush, if it was from somewhere else, quite likely the monitoring solution hasn't caught up. TU sucketh like that.

I do have other derogs. Nothing has changed with them. 2 baddies, set to fall off 1/2016. I did call TU to update my file since they had employment data that was completely inaccurate. Unfortunately, the man I talked to was from another country and I must have not understood him because they did not update it correctly. I wouldn't think that would cause the drop though.
I pulled the report from MyFico

Hrm, doesn't look like it was a big impact then; couple points either direction is white noise with how the algorithm is setup though it's theoretically possible you shifted buckets, we just don't know enough about different derogatory types and how that gets sorted into different things vis a vis is a public record different than a collection, and in public records is a tax lien different than a judgement? I'd assume yes on first one, and possibly on second one, but hard to say when we're talking small changes.
With the algorithm and how it's setup, clean reports clearly get the best boost assuming you have the history to support it... I'm really not expecting much from when my collection falls off 6/16, or my lates get excluded 7/17, but come 11/17 when my hated Cali tax lien comes off, if I don't do anything too stupid between now and then, probably will be dialing 800, likely no chance I break 750 on any baseline score before that point as never seen anything recorded higher than mid 750's ever here on a FICO 8 report with a derogatory still on it; 740 might even be a stretch for me depending how my impending mortgage impacts thing and I'm within touching distance of that on EX 8 at a 739... probably all downward from here knowing my luck hah.
Anyway, what are your other derogs if you don't mind my asking? Sounds like 6 more months though.
Don't sweat the employment data, really isn't used for anything other than verification purposes and if you know what's on the report, that's enough for that. Think TU gives you the option online to dispute it if you are willing to submit your current employer to replace it.

The public record was a Paid Federal Tax lien -- I'm now free of that off the TU report.
2 collections, 1 is a medical, other is a collection from a apartment complex (charges to repaint).
TU listed my employment as self -- that's not what I reported. I imagine that will cause problems when applying for credit cards. Probably pretty difficult to get instant approval when your employment is listed as "self"
Here is an interesting data point......My EX report still shows the Tax Lien, and it doesn't show it as paid like TU did. My EX score is 5 points higher. Could it be that having a paid lien removed that was almost 7 years ago took away some history, thus causing the drop?

No, that wouldn't be it. When my tax lien vanished from TU, my score jumped 77 points. The difference is that in my case, it was my only derog.

It would have been nice to get +77 but instead I got -3 !!!

Yeah, I wish it would vanish on the other two. Those scores still suck.
