I'm confused.... how do you have high FICO scores with no credit cards???

He doesn't.  OP reports scores of 675 to 695, which are decent, but not "very high".   Had OP kept the CC open and used it responsibly, his scores may have become "very high" in time.

Opening any new credit account (credit cards, loans, etc) can temporarily affect your credit score for 2 reasons:  new inquiries (only a point or three, usually) and lowering your average age of accounts (AAoA) but over time neither matters.

Keeping 3 credit card accounts active and with very low to no utilization can probably RAISE your credit score by 20-100 points depending on many factors over a period of time -- versus having zero credit card accounts active.  You don't have to USE the credit card, just having it active and open is enough to boost your score.

Like almost everyone else here, I think you should have kept it open just to help your score.  Don't use it, just keep it around.

No, opening the account and taking the HP already dropped your score.   And now that you closed the account, you have no opportunity to use it to make your scores grow.   Bear in mind that UTIL is a significant portion of your FICO scores, and the new account will no longer improve your UTIL once you pay it off.

Op I think what your missing here is everyone is trying to give you some good solid advice on where to go from here , you have already taken the hit for the inquiry and new account so that damage was done . Your Credit Karma scores are not your real credit scores , they use a Vantage Score which can be drastically different from your real fico scores . If your as concerned About the damage that this has done to your scores I would highly recommend getting copies of all 3 of your reports with your REAL FICO SCORES , my Credit Karma scores vs my real Ficos can be anywhere from 50 to 75 pts difference which can make a huge difference when trying to see where you really stand in the Credit world . You can get your scores from My Fico or Credit Check Total gives you a 1 dollar 7 day trial , in that you get a copy of all three reports and all 3 scores . Don't take all this advice and throw it out the window we are only trying to help you bf you find yourself in a situation where you need to have credit and can't get it bc of your limited credit experience

One of my Credit Karma scores says 696, lololol.  My real FICO08s are 577, 579 and 600.

There is no way any lender is going to look at my credit report and say "This guy is almost 700!"  No possible way.

Exactly , my CK scores are actually the opposite hey are a lot lower than my real Ficos . I wish Op could understand what we are trying to tell them .

As an adult with free will, you gave your permission to open a credit card.

It will reflect as such.

Re: I was tricked into opening a Care Credit Card. What happens if I pay it off and close it immedia

Unfortunately Op put their fingers in their ears like many of the drive-by Fico members.... thought by restating the question they would get "alternative facts"

They have mediocre scores, and they are FAKOs not even FICOs......

Installment plans are credit, no matter how you slice it or present it.... The OP took no accountability for their actions...

They took the hit for the HP.....

They ignored the advice on the forums and feel slighted.... when they could have used this as an oppurtunity not a detriment...

They also do not realize they are not going to get the HP removed and its not the end of the world to have an HP...

If i were to guess, they are under the misconception that credit is evil.... and they are delusional about the quality of their credit....

Instead of treating it as a learning experience, and making it into an advantage not a disadvantage, they feel "slighted and hurt" and took their ball and went home... When in fact this was the opposite of what they should do if they wanted an advantageous outcome...

You took a small mistake and made it into a larger detrimental problem.. wont take long to recover.. but for naught....

Looking a gift horse in the mouth (willing to extend credit with meh scores and experience)... and asking them to bite you ....

That said you should really consider building your credit... not just letting the chips fly where they will..

Wish you luck...
