So I logged into Experian today to see my score drop 26 points and it stating I had a missed payment. After going through each account, I noticed that an account that was IIB updated yesterday. That 'N' used to be in Sep of '16 when I filed and they just updated it to yesterday? I mean, this is the only thing I can find in my report that I believe could have caused it and for them to show my last missed payment was '0' months ago all of a sudden. All my active cards are current and haven't missed any payments. Only other thing that's reported in the last 48 hours was a CLI on my OS card that put my utilization from 10% to <7%.
Can they actually do that? Is this a valid dispute? I tried starting one, but Experian's system is 'down' and I can't. I tried calling in to talk to someone and just get cornered into an automated message about inquiring about fraud prevention. Seems every option I opt to choose directs me to something online and then hangs up on me.
UPDATE:
Well, that's great! Tried a different number and finally did get through to someone there. I inquired about it, just got told 'we're not credit advisors and it's a valid charge off' & 'accounts stay on your report for 7 years' - nothing I was inquiring about (at least I don't necessarily see it that way) and/or disputing. Simply stated I don't understand how that a company could all of a sudden be allowed to update 2+ years later like this, have my payment history mess up and tank my score. Got told at one point that it wasn't what caused my score drop and that I'm not showing any new missed payment on their end, yet I see it saying my last missed payment now is '0' months ago; not to mention everything coincides perfectly with this change. Then she changed to saying that they can update the account any time they wish since it was a valid charge off and valid reasoning for the drop.
All I got from the call was that they (and any company) can constantly update your report like this and drop your score and there's nothing you can do about it. Do I really have no option here other than to wait for this to fall off my report next year?
I'm having the exact same issue but I paid my account before bankruptcy. I disputed it 3 times (Nov., Dec., Jan) and it keep updating in the month that I dispute. The company is telling me they are reporting correctly. I seriously think it is the way Experian chooses to update the information. They update it as a charge off instead of a paid account. I disputed it again & I sent a copy of my report to the company. I don't know if that will help but other then that I'm going to send a letter to Experian.
I filed bankruptcy almost 2 years ago and I haven't had a late payment since then. My score was finally beginning to rise. Now my score went down almost 15 points because this account updated like a new late for a paid account. I understand your frustration.

Will do, thanks!
I'm not trying to dispute it on my report, but the way it all of a sudden got updated by Experian to show it as a recent missed payment/negative item. Which I know for sure they're doing and happened! Yesterdays report shows last missed/negative item was 2 years, 4 months and then today says 0 months with the score hit. I just want it pushed back to 09/16 like it should be and not this 01/19 non sense!
And from what I can tell, does seem like it's just the way Experian is handling it. Plan on pulling another proper F8 on the other 2 at the end of the week; but from what I can tell from FAKO TU, it was updated there as well but no hit to the FAKO. So wishful thinking that the other 2 don't update it the same way.
You should sent a copy of the information to the creditor to see if they can fix it. That is what I did. I hope that works.
And you are welcome

Didn't realize until afterwards and went to call, that I quoted an incomplete number. Ended up Googling it to figure out what it was (figured ya just forgot a 0, which was the case) and came cross their page stating this is their corporate office and wasn't for general credit report assistance. But I guess would be considered the equavalent of a banks EO?
I take it just call it and explain, or try to explain what happened and see if they'll either push back the date (as I've read has happened years ago) or fix/change how they're reporting it? Sorry, just wanna make sure I'm requesting the right thing here. Like I said, I don't dispute it being on my report, just whatever changed in the last 24-36 hours.
Wooo hoo! So yesterday I noticed that disputing via Experian's site was working again (lots of features have been 'down' for me for awhile). So I submitted a dispute of 'other' with the statement I wasn't disputing the account in question what so ever, just the way Experian was now reporting it as a new missed payment/negative. Provided a SS of the report from their site from the 14th of this month that showed that 'N' being in 9/16 and then the 15th that showed it 1/19. Said I'd appreciate it if they can revert because the way they're reporting it now isn't valid. Well, not even 24 hours later I get an update stating the investigation has been completed and they've made necessary changes to reflect it. Score restored 26 points and back in the 'Good' bracket!
Still not entirely sure what caused the creditor to push an update to the CB's anyways and/or if it had the same effect on TU/EQ, but guess will find out this weekend. *fingers crossed*
Wow...that is great. Maybe I need to give them a call back today. Congrats.
Good to see that they fixed it. I have been nervous about a dispute I have in for my ACS student loans which have the wrong dates and what will happen if it gets refreshed somehow. I pulled my reports from annual credit report before I did the disputes though so if it happens, I’ll just do that too.

Thanks!
I would maybe try doing the online dispute like I did as 'other' and if you have SS's, provide them afterwards; showing the before/after. I never got around to calling because I wasn't entirely sure what to say and I get very nervous/anxious in situations like this. Planned on having to do it next month when I figured I'd get a response back about this and probably some more dropped points. Honestly wasn't expecting the results I got and as fast as I got them after the telephone call I had that first day with them.
Hope you end up having favorable results too!
