Multiple Inquiries drop score -19

I saw my Equifax score drop -17 points and was declined a CC because of it. However The 7 inqueiries should only equal 2 hits. 4 were from the purchase of my home and 3 were from a new ar purchase. Is there anything I can do about it? I went from 706 to 687 in a day due to this. I was preapproved for this card based on the higher score.

Where did you pull your score from?

I saw them from scorewatch. The CC was Citi Platinum Select MC. The scorewatch told me I had dropped because I had too many requests. Other than the 7 from the car and home I had no credit requests for an entire year.

Don't rely on SW alert reasons. Something else happened to drop the score. I'd pull a new EQ report and look to see if utilization changes, accounts were added or removed, accounts being updated, etc.

I once got a SW alert for a 20 point increase because I added a new inquiry. The inquiry didn't add 20 points, but a baddie falling off led to the 20 points.

If it were an increase it would not bother me, but, the drop threw me from good credit into a questionable score.

If your home was purchased in Feb. and car in April you would have seen any drop in points from inquiries back in Feb/April...not in May/June.

Maybe your car loan is just now showing up on your credit report....or maybe you just have higher CC utilization reporting. The point drop does not seem to relate to the period of time when you would have received inquiries.
