A day short of two years on here, and my EX moved above 800 so now I've got all three over 800 (for the time being).
Balances got below $20k recently, right around $18k or 7% overall utilization per Slate FICO.
Current highest revolving utilization is at 41.3%
$500 installment loan is at 72.4% utilization
Number of revolvers reporting a balance is 16 or 17 of 24 possible open accounts. As it moves between that 67% of accounts to 71% of accounts recently, it's a 5 point swing either way on TU.
PRG as the only Charger.
One closed account with 21.6% utilization on a Forever 1.99% APR which is paying down slowly.
Mortgage has 89% utilization on the first, second mortgage is 100%.
Oldest open accounts are 15 years
Oldest closed account still reporting is 18 years
Average Age is 6yr 4 mo per Slate dashboard at October 1.
Newest account 7 months.
INQ: EQ 8 TU 4 EX 12
14 new cards in the last 24 months, so just a shade over the 5/24 rule. October 2017 before I get under 5/24, although I am still contemplating trying for CSR at some point sooner than that.
NRB525, Nice progress on the scores.
A couple milestones that may be of some interest for eliminating restrictions to upward potential:
- AAoA of 8 years or more
- Aggregate installment loan under 70% (if an open mortgage is part of the mix)
It would sure be interesting to see how your Fico 08 score would react by dropping # cards reporting on a single cycle to 6 or less (from 16).
On 9/1/16 my youngest account aged to 1 year. My TU 08 and EX 08 scores gained 7 and 9 points respectively and jumped to 850. EQ 08 was already at 850. This now gives me a FICO 08 850 trifecta. It has been a long time coming.
These are my scores as of 9/1/16

Notes:
EX 98 is suppressed by approximately 10 points due to Amex utilization of 100%.
Inquiries have been aging off and EQ 04 is now at 817. I'm not sure what it will take to get to 818. Possibly AAoA of 11 years.
With the youngest account less than 1 year of age, it seems that an 850 score can only be achieved with 1 inquiry maximum.
However, with youngest account at 1 year, it is possible to achieve an 850 score with 3 or possibly more inquiries.
I have a secured installment loan with a B/L ratio of less that 10%.
Thanks for the information.
Some notes:
1) Charge card B/HB is not considered in Fico 08 or Fico 04 scoring - only Fico 98. What's your highest UT% on a revolving credit card?
2) I strongly suspect your EX Classic and Enhanced Fico 98 scores are depressed 20 points by a 100% B/HB on an AMEX charge card. Here is what I experienced going from AMEX not reporting to 100% B/HB
- Classic Fico 98, score drop: 837 => 815 & 817 (pulled reports 2 weeks apart, both with AMEX at 100%)
- Auto Fico 98, score drop 857 => 837 & 838
- Bankcard Fico 98, score drop 862 => 830 & 842
3) As mentioned previously, you don't need anything close to 10% on a balance to loan ratio for a mortgage for an 850 score on Fico 08 but, likely do on an SSL.
4) Indications are an AAoA of 8 years is a threshold for Fico 08 of 850 and 12 months for age of youngest account. Not sure an AAoA above 8 will add anything to score potential.
5) EQ may be looking for 1 card only reporting to achieve the elusive 818 on Fico 04. I can never get below 2 reporting due to an AU card. My EQ Fico 04 score is limited to 809 due to 2 of 6 reporting. You have many more accounts and that may help. I have long thought count and % reporting are factors - atleast for older Fico models.
6) No problem achieving an 850 with a single HP based on personal experience. If you are at 850 with more than one HP, could they be counted as one? Are they all within a 30 day time period? Also, are any of them credit union related? Some posters have reported CU inquiries as being "over looked".

EX 98 seems to had been suppressed about 10 to 15 points. Once my last 2 inquiries aged off EX 98 hit 828.
3) As mentioned previously, you don't need anything close to 10% on a balance to loan ratio for a mortgage for an 850 score on Fico 08 but, likely do on an SSL. Agreed. I've seen a few examples of Fico 08 hitting 850 with a mortgage B/L ratio of 80%. That may or may not be the lowest scoring threshold for mortgage scores. It is uncertain.
4) Indications are an AAoA of 8 years is a threshold for Fico 08 of 850 and 12 months for age of youngest account. Not sure an AAoA above 8 will add anything to score potential. Yes, 8 years AAoA is a threshold for 850. I had an 850 on EQ 08 with AAoA of 8 years. At the time my youngest account was only 3 months old. I had several accounts less than 6 months old. I had 1 scoreable inquiry. It is not necessary to have 12 months of age on the youngest account for an 850 on EQ. I did not see any impact on any scores when passing the 10 year AAoA threshold. Some others have reported an impact. IDK.
Scoring treatment of # of cards reporting balances is scorecard dependent and is not always remotely logical, especially on EQ 04. I have tried letting only one card report. EQ 04 remained at 817. I seem to remember that Android01 had an AAoA of 11 years when he hit 818 on EQ 04. I believe he had other theories for his 818 score.

The 3 Transunion inquiries were widely separated and the 2 Experian inquiries were Bankcard Enhanced Inquiries. No chance of those being combined. None of the TU or EX inquiries were from CUs.

An interesting note:
The Myfico simulator predicted my 850 on Experian 08 with 2 inquiries.

Having more than one inquiry is substantially impacting your older Fico 04 and Fico 98 scores. This supports prior observations that the older Fico models are impacted to a greater degree by "a few" inquiries than is Fico 08. Below is a comparison relative to zero inquiries to illustrate how INQs may be impacting EX and TU for the older models. The impact on EX Fico 98 is most likely strongly influenced by 100% B/HB on AMEX as well.

I may never get that 850 as this would require 2 years 11 more months of gardening...I do not see resisting the bribes that long.
Hello:
Been involved with the election campaign, then turkey day, but I finally checked my latest scores today.
Equifax - 846; TU - 850; and EX 836. The reasons for Exceptional score are:
1. No missed payments.
2. Ratio of balances to credit limits is 1%.
3. Oldest account opened 21 years 9 months ago. (How old is FICO? I know I've had credit cards before then.)
4. Average age of accounts is 13 years 7 months.
I just paid off an installment loan in October, so my EQ and EX scores dropped because I have no installment loans, and I haven't used a credit card in a month. DUH Might be time for me to purchase a new car so my scores would go back up. Sheesh!! What a game.
Hope everyone had a happy turkey day; now it's back to work.
Cheers.
