I need some help understanding this. I recently discovered that the penfed app now shows fico scores under the "tools" botton. However i was really suprised and confused to see a score of 999 and remarks "Exceptional" and it showed that it was updated on 12/8/2018.
Can anyone please help me understand what might be going on here. Is it just an error or do they have different scoring models for each customer.
Please note i got the membership in april 2018 but wasnt approved for credit cards cause my EQ file was missing. I was later approved for an Access America checking acct in October..
Thanks. I look forward to your responses.
I'm no expert but I believe you only get a FICO score from Penfed if you have a loan product. If all you have are deposit accounts I would just dismiss it as a glich in their software.
You also have access to a FICO score if you have an "Access America Checking Account."
Ah, thanks I didn't know that. I skipped the checking account when I joined because of the $500 min balance/DD requirement.
UPDATE:
After reaching out to the mobile banking team at Penfed via email, i got this response this morning:
"Thank you for contacting PenFed.
Due to a recent update, FICO scores have become unavailable while displaying the
following message: "999" or missing values in the Credit Score field on the
Member Detail Inquiry screen. Your score should become available in shortly
when new scores are pulled."
So i guess that confirms the general view expressed by all.

@standby They pretty much treat the AA checking acct. as a credit product cause i remember getting a letter in the mail after it was approved which basically offered a $500 OD protection. All i had to do was tick a box and send it back. I chose not to cause the plan at the time was to get the account prior to applying for the pathfinder which i later decided to postpone cause i"ve had too many new accounts in the last six months.
