Hello, this is my first post. i've been lurking for quiete a while but decided to become active.
So I hope you guys can help me in credit journey since i'm only 19 and learning everyday about credit.
Okay so last year i opened a Citibank Foward card for students when I opened my checking account with them. I got approved with a 1000 credit limit.
last month I got approvred for a discover it card for 1000 as well.
But today I tried the Mint Credit Monitor and was surprised at my scores. They were way lower than the scores that Creditkarma and my Discover FICO scores.
So my question is, what gives?
Credit Karma is not a FICO score and neither is Mint Credit Monitoring. They are FAKO scores.
Discover is a bankcard enhanced FICO. Can't remember if it is from TU or EX.
A FAKO score is calculated differently than a FICO.
So is the Discover score more accurate?
Yes, for the scoring model/version, it is a real FICO score.
There are over 49 different FICO scores. Any FICO score is the real thing but due to the number of different models/versions, there is going to be differences, even among FICO scores.
Okay, thank you. Because my Discover score is way higher than the other scores. I just wanted to make sure.
I'm pretty confident the Discover is the same as Wally: baseline/classic TU '08? The scores have matched from reports and IIRC somewhere in the details it lists the Transunion product being used and it's the same for both as someone uncovered when it was released.
The only bankcard enhanced industry options I'm aware of are Merrick and FBNO.
Personally I use the TU'08 score off my Wally card as my benchmark for everything credit-card / personal-loan related. It doesn't apply to mortgages nor auto-loans typically.
Ok, so my Discover score says that it is 732, so is that good?

Yes, your TU score is good. Although the score is not the only thing a lender will consider, the majority of people with scores in that range can get approved for most credit they want.
Okay thanks, I have another question, I'm not sure if i have to create another thread but what scores or requirements would I need to be approved for a American Express blue cash everyday?
