Question about comments in CRA file...

Do comments effect your score? I am trying to get the correct account status on some of my trade lines and was not sure about the comments section. Any ideas/help? Does the scoring algorithm look for certain "keywords" in comments...? thanks!

Re: Question about comments in CRA file...

Were these comments from myfico credit reports? And what did the comments say?

Re: Question about comments in CRA file...

Not sure whether Collections and Chargeoffs are coded as such or whether the comments determine it.

I know that comments can help or hurt on manual review.

Re: Question about comments in CRA file...

It is my understanding the majority of comments are CODED and DO effect the FICO.

$1,000's of dollars is based on if someone put the correct 2 digit code in reporting or updating your credit report.

Some comments do not affect score but can affect manual review- Closed by customer vs Closed by Credit Grantor.

the comments are coded correctly. One more thing to add to the list. Thanks all again! H

I can tell you the word "Bankruptcy" in account comments takes a neutral BK status account to a red flag.

I have 8 BK status accounts at CSC, none of which have reported late payments. Four have "Bankruptcy" in the comment line, and they are red flagged in my EQ MyFICO report. The four WITHOUT "Bankruptcy" in the comments line are  NOT red flagged.

As for the codes, I have one account that was evidently coded incorrectly by Chase. It should be reported as "Bankruptcy" status, but all 3 CRAs have it as "Affected by natural disaster". It has no red flag, so "mum`s the word" with me on it.
