Question

so I recently paid down my credit cards and each credit bureau had updated but when I received an alert from myfico showing my credit score increased due to the reductions on my credit card balances myfico showed it went up +18 but now it shows a -18 and dropped it back down to its previous credit rating this only occurred on my Transunion so I contacted myfico customer care and this was there response, the thing is my credit report even shows the decrease in credit card balances am I missing something?

Dear Sean,

Thank you for contacting myFICO Customer Care.

The TransUnion score on your myFICO dashboard is correct. Since there was a new report generated on 03/30/2016, this forced a re-calculation of your FICO score and prevented the alert from generating on your dashboard.

Please note: The information on the credit report will over rule any alert data.

If you have any additional questions, please call 1-800-319-4433 (Monday-Friday 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Saturday 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM Pacific Time) and we will be happy to assist you.

Mostly punctuation.

I'm not trying to be pedantic. I've read your post six times, and I'm still not sure what you're asking. That may be why you haven't received any other responses.

My best guess is that you want to know why you received an initial 18-point increase to your TransUnion FICO score when you paid down your balances, but saw your score revert back to where it had been. If that's your question, it's hard to speculate without more specific information. It's possible that the increase occured when most (but not all) of your credit cards had reported zero balances (and that resulted in an 18-point increase). And the decrease happened when the last cards reported a zero balance (all cards reporting zero is not as good as one or two cards reporting a balance).

But I'm guessing at what your question is and at what your circumstances are, so that may be completely irrelevant.

Re: Question

Don't waste your time contacting MyFico. The issue is with Transunion. Many of us have been through this dance.

I would give it all more time to sort out. It can take a couple of days for any given change to a report to make its way through the myFICO display. Any subsequent alert / trigger may cause another score recalculation yet.

Good, then don't be. Ask clarifying questions, or don't try to reply Smiley Happy

I've had the same issue as well. I would receive an alert on 4/1 that says my score increased 20 points.  The same day of the alert I would purchase a new transunion score and there was a difference of 20 points (the same 20 points myfico says my score increased).  Frustrating to say the least.  I'm actually going to cancel my Myfico 3B and use Experian only.  But you are not alone.
