Hi there,
I have been researching about this comment : "Account information disputed by consumer (Meets requirement of the Fair Credit Reporting Act)." and found that you have some experience about it. Could you please help me in terms explaining what exactly does this mean? And should I be worried about his comment?
The full back story is that, my wife used my Paypal account to purchase sth. but instead going through the selected payment, it went straight to Paypal credit. I was unaware of this situation and found out 2 months later, my account was delinquent for 31 days ( delinquent on 23rd and made a payment on 24th). I called up PayPal and explained everything to them and told them it was all an honest mistake and my wife was using it and I have never been late for my payment every. and asked for their help to resolve this issue ( kind of like asking for a GW letter). What PayPal did was that the customer representative sent a letter to the CRA, saying that " customer was unaware of this payment and is looking to ***( something i forgot).
Can you please see if you understand what my situation and how my credit is going to be affected? And what is the next step.
I great appreciate your help and hope you have a great night.
Hi @Anonymous and welcome to the forum
I've separated your question from the thread it was posted in and created a separate one for it since it had nothing to do with that topic.
You will get yoyr answer easier this way
So, you were late by 31 days after due date, or was 23rd due date but you paid following day?
Comments mean almost nothing. What matters to you is how paypal decides to report that month.
Hi Remedios,
Thank you for separating my question!
Yes, it was 31 days after the due date. December 23rd was the 31st day after the due day. I was not aware of the charge and Paypal never send any communication to me as to I have a payment due. I don't have autopay set up as I thought I have paid off everything and there is no charges on there and thus no payment was needed.
Hi Brian_Earl_Spilner,
THank you for replying! Paypal has decided reporting this delinquency. However, my newly updated credit report was showing nothing and all payment are made on time. Maybe is because of the GW letter that I have sent to the Paypal. My points dropped by 3 to 732 (Experian) and this weird comment.
@Anonymous you have a statement for your credit card, so that's all communication that's legally needed.
Lenders do not call you to remind you payment is due. Some lenders allow you to set up reminders, I'm not sure if Synchrony is one of them.
As far as late, you were 31 days late from due date, and at least 51 days passed since statement generated.
There is nothing to dispute there, GW request is a correct approach.
If the late shows up, do not dispute it. "I forgot about this" isn't a ground for dispute, and it will result in derog being verified.
If you contacted lender regarding late payment, they might have taken your GW request as a dispute, that happens relatively often, so just lay low till you see what's going on with this account.
