Re: Score Impacts: Comments & Pay History sections

Transferred to recovery does not sound positive. But this is uncharted territory, no one really knows, at least no one that I’m aware of. Members?

Re: Score Impacts: Comments & Pay History sections

I didn’t see that specific narrative code listed when I researched this subject matter. I agree with @birdman7 in that it doesn’t sound positive.

There are many narrative codes that are considered negative and do have a negative impact on your score. I know first hand that this is a true statement!! Read my initial post.

I also know first hand that getting them removed is akin to getting an inquiry removed...requires a lobe of your liver; first born child; and a lock of Pres. George Washington’s hair!!! 😂

Re: Score Impacts: Comments & Pay History sections

I don’t know how much is from the comments specifically, but at a time when I had 12 accounts (and their inquiries) age to a year, and no other changes-I saw a 20 point drop on my EX (and only on EX).

That was unexpected.

After scouring my report line by line, I discovered the addition (only to EX) of an old, closed AU account showing good payment history. Hmmm-odd. Old, good history-why the decrease? I’m assuming it’s the “Credit line closed-grantor request-reported by subscriber” comment.

My EQ and TU increased at the same time (as expected due to the other aging).

But I’m still wondering the same thing I’ve been wondering since the creation of this thread. How do you get a negative remark removed absent a dispute? And to dispute, you need a valid reason and something has to be inaccurate.

If it’s accurate, you’re stuck with it. How else can you get it off? you just call in and ask a CRA to take it off? If so, can I just ask him to take off any other derogatory at the same time?

I’m not understanding how to remove the remark without going through a dispute.

I would think you'd have to contact the original Creditor who provided said comments? And ask them nicely if they could be rmoved since the issue is now resolved and fairly old? Same wqay you'd go about a PFD, with goodwill letters.

Obviously contacting the CRA is out because it is accurate information, so you're not really disputing it. Just would kike it removed.

Re: Score Impacts: Comments & Pay History sections

I_Love_Carbs It sounds like that may be affecting your score. But there’s an easy solution. Since it’s an AU account, you are not responsible for it. Do a dispute as account not yours. They have to remove it.

Janus My statement was said within the context of contact with the CRAs, which is the context within which the OP created the thread. He suggested you could just request the bureau remove the comment absent a dispute, but yet he is compiling a list of dispute codes. Color me confused.

You are absolutely correct the original creditor can make whatever changes they want and I agree with your statement.

And as was stated earlier in the thread, a dispute could cause a change of anywhere up to 100+ points because it causes the exclusion of the ENTIRE tradeline, and whatever is in it, including the comments section. So when you do a dispute, you temporarily get the score you would have if that tradeline were missing. But if it comes back denied, your score goes back to where it was.

Now, if you can dispute something in the comment section that is harming your score and you win the dispute, then you will keep score change. It’s just always good to remember that you can sometimes realize a score decrease by eliminating a trade line if it is extremely old and you don’t have any other old accounts.

Oh for sure on the dispute to get the AU account removed.

I was only adding it to the thread as it seems highly likely that the comment on that AU account is affecting my score (since everything else about the account is favorable). We’ll see when it gets removed though (still waiting...).

STILL waiting.  I figured it would be almost immediate.  Not so much.  I don't know what all they need to investigate to confirm that the AU account is an AU account...but they are apparently being quite thorough.  Or something.

Re: Score Impacts: Comments & Pay History sections

That AU account was deleted from EX yesterday. EX score up 15 points today. No other changes from yesterday to today.

I am not sure exactly what was so negative about that comment, but it was worth a whole lot of points.

I do have a new inquiry and new account since I submitted the dispute. I’m assuming that’s where the other 5 points went (I lost 20 when the account with the comment was added to my report-got 15 back when it was deleted).
