I had a paid collection showing unpaid for the past 8 months, after speaking with Collection Co. numerous times, they actually deleted the collection from my credit report.
I was so happy and thought my score would go up a few points. Instead dropped about 20 points and nothing else negative was reported on my credit report.
was it the oldest account on your reports? sometimes losing the history hurts you more than the negative account was.

This comes up many different times and I am not sure what the reason would be for the drop in score.
Reason being a collection from what others say is not counted to your history. So being oldest account or newest account shouldn't play a factor.
IMO you no longer have the negative and in time will help your scores grow.
Go celebrate you are rid of the collection.
Did the reasons helping and hurting your score change? Either a new one or the order of the existing reasons.
It was from 2008, when I had most problems, but that reminds me, I may have lost some old good history accounts. I need to check on that. Thanks
