I was suprised to see that when my BCP reported (it's my 4th CC) I only lost 1 point on EX. TU rebounded quickly as well. Opened 1/21, got the alert for reporting on 3/23 from myFICO (also showed up on CK that day) and today I got an alert for an 8pt increase back to where I was prior to the new accout. The only thing that's happened between alerts is is my VentureOne statement closed and reported (same 0 balance as it has been since i took it to zero in October). How long does it normally take to recover the point loss from a new revolver reporting? I've got nothing to complain about as I'm happy with how quicly it rebounded complaining cause it was quick but I figured it would be at least another month or two. FWIW either no change on EQ when I got the new account alert. or nothing in the alert triggered a score alert (myFICO didn't give me an alert to show it reporting on EX, got that info from the Experian site).
It depends...
If you had previously opened an account in the last 12 months, then you already were under the new account penalty. In that case, any point loss would most likely be due to a new inquiry penalty.
Only the CB or CBs which show the inquiry would show an associated score drop. The impact of a new inquiry lasts 12 months.
If your average age of accounts dropped significantly due to the new account, that could impact score across all CBs.
I was definitely under the new account penalty as my most recent prior account was opened mid September and started reporting mid October. And in that case, part of what you're saying makes sense to me regarding the inquiry drop as EQ has not shown a drop yet since reporting (Amex pulled EX and TU). The rest I can't easily reconcile, but utilization as been 2% on my AZEO card and <1%aggregate since before applying.
1/21 is when I applied and was approved, 2/5 is when a prior account hit a year old, 3/23 myFICO alert for TU reporting the enw account, 3/26 alert for EQ reporting, EX reported 3/21 according to their site.
As usualy I'm probably getting deeper into the weeds than I need to but for some reason I find it really interesting.
Got my monthly 3B yesterday and was happy to see that EQ8 and EX8 went to new hight for me as did EQ9 and TU9 (meanwhile 10 and 10T dropped.
