Walmart invitation for MC...

Hello everyone,

I have Walmart store card for almost a year now, I recently requested an increase and approved for $10K from $800. Like many others, I received an invitation for Walmart MC recently. But going through the forums, I am confused whether to accept it or not. Will it be a new inquiry? Will it affect my AAoA or credit score? I have used Walmart store card in the past, but I don't use it anymore since I have Discover, Chase freedom, Citi double cash MC, BofA Visa and Capital one MC. I don't want to affect my score or AAoA. Any guidance will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Walmart invitation for MC...

I believe if you accept the offer for the upgrade it will report as a new account and show your store card as closed. It will effect your AAoA since your adding a new account and probably lower you score. If you have no use for the new account why bother? Just my 2 cents hope to of helped.

Cant say it any better than flako, Maxx. It will be a new account, not a new hp but in the end , id you dont need the utilization buffer and the card is of no use, you can just close it and itll stay on your reports the next 10 years anyway and this way your aaoa continues its magikal rideSmiley Happy. I believe there's a time limit to when you can decline the upgrade and keep the store card. I don't have hubby's letter in front of me to check though.
