Weird TU score drop after adverse accounts turn into good

Long story short. I pulled my TU from here on 3/1 and had a TU score of 663. earlier this week I was alerted that 2 old Student Loan accounts which both has 60 day lates on them from 7 years ago dropped off and now both are showing as a positive. I also just paid down 5k in CC debts and those are showing with less then 5% util and total util went from 89% down to 63%. I pulled my score tonight and it dropped to 593. Did I get rebucketed because of the student loan going to a positive status?? I do not have any collections/ BK's or leins so I am completely at a loss for the 70 point drop. Any insight why this is happening?

You pulled your score from here the second time, right?

A 593 FICO would be indicative of a baddie or baddies reporting. I would review closely. Also, look on pages 2 and 3 of your report to see if those pos/neg items changed.

I bought them both from here and compared both reports from 3/1 and 3/8 and they only changes are the 2 old baddies turning into positive accounts and my total Util dropping. No other baddies of any kind.

Wow a 70 point loss!!

I would lean towards even if you were re-bucketed you should have not lost that many points. (just speculation tho)

Hopefully IIecs or one of our other myFICO experts will read your latest reply and help to give you a better answer, as I can not imagine why you would have lost 70 points, the only logical thing I can think of is what IIecs has said, but you have confirmed that no baddies have popped up since your first pull.

I'm hoping you will be able to pinpoint the cause of this.

If interested in narrowing out the obvious (I would if that happened), I would start by the pos/neg items on pages 2 and 3 of your FICO report.

Did any of those change in the before and after FICO pull?

Re: Weird TU score drop after adverse accounts turn into good

The only thing that changed between the 3/1 and the 3/6 credit reports from page 2 is that my overall utilization dropped from 74% to 64% and I had 3 adverse accounts that dropped down to 1. The 2 that were adverse were studen loans and the late payments dropped off due to age and now both are showing as a positive account. Inq's even dropped from 5 to 3 due to age. Number of open accounts is still the same. In fact my payment history changed from good to very good. And also on a side note the 3rd baddie is scheduled to turn into a positive trade line in August so I will have a zero negative items on my TU account. Since I have a walmart CC I will check what the TU08 score looks like when it posts. Im starting to think there was a calculation issue with TU on here that screwed it up.

If that were true, then util increased elsewhere on another account....because overall util decreased. This would only apply to a charge card like Amex or some other NPSL type card (Signature, etc.).

My first look would be the page you posted back on. The next page I would look at is the Credit  At-A-Glance page to see balance changes, added accounts, changes in any past due amounts (likely $0), and I would also look for any additional red flags. My next target would be to compare the Account summary page. I would look for any added red flags in the red flag column. I'd also look at the balances. Finally, I'd zero in on each individual TL and look for the smallest of differences, especially the dates.

Re: Weird TU score drop after adverse accounts turn into good

Well we can rule out any charge cards as I do not carry an AMEX or a Signature card. I have gone through TL by TL and compared the 2 reports. All the TL on the 3/8 Credit Report have lower balances or 0 balances showing. There is only 1 red flag showing on the 3/8 report and that is slated to turn into a positive account in August. No Collections or liens on either report and INQ's are only showing 3 and all three of those drop in July. On a side note I just got my Walmart TU score and its showing a 665 score for March.
