Yes that would be easiest, but I'd double check. Might still have to dispute to get removed. Everythings online so pretty simple

Re: What steps do I take to remove myself as an Authorized User?

The reason that we often advise to first go through the CCC is because the credit bureaus are quick to label consumers as "frivolous disputers", even when they're not, so if it can be done via the lender, it might be wiser. Smiley Wink

But it can certainly be done through the CRA's, disputing as "not mine."

Re: What steps do I take to remove myself as an Authorized User?

I actually did it through the CRA and it worked that way.  The authorized user card was only showing up on my TU report, so I only had to contact one agency. Hopefully, my score will go up now.

Re: What steps do I take to remove myself as an Authorized User?

I want to do this too.

Is it possible to remove yourself and still use the card?  Unlike AMEX, the 2 cards I'm on AU on have the same card numbers as the primary user.

Thanks.

Re: What steps do I take to remove myself as an Authorized User?

I don't think so.  For example, if I removed myself as an authorized user on one of my husband's cards through the Credit Reporting Agency, then in order to still use the card, he would have to let me use his actual card or sign me on as an authorized user again.  That's my understanding. Someone else might have a different answer.

That's my understanding as well.  Same account number, but different names on the cards.

In any event, If you want to use the account, it's probably best all around to do it above-board and keep yourself on as an AU.
