I am not so sure of that.  In the recent FICO webinar, they stated that total inactivity in all TLs for more than six months can result in their drop in any FICO scoring, thus resulting in a "no score."
I rely on input from the gurus on here, but that is what FairIsaac stated.

Well, technically, no score is not zero.  But I agree - long inactivity could very easily result in no score, assuming all accounts were closed

Re: Zero Fico Score

Aren't there rental car companies that won't let you rent with a debit card, only a credit card?

Yes, there are.  There are also hotels that won't let you make reservations on a debit card, as well.

Re: Zero Fico Score

The reason is that many debit cards do not guarantee payment if the amount exceeds current account balance.  Payment may be declined, and is thus a greater risk to the merchant.

Re: Zero Fico Score

Also when you use a debit card for a hotel or car rental they "freeze" a chunk of your available meney, and that can be for MORE than you are paying for the hotel/car.  And it can take a few days after you pay for the whole oot to be sorted out

That's no big deal. They're just the largest car rental company in North America. Smiley Wink
