score bump from using card and having balance report?

I recently bought a new bike on my trek card, and my score went up? Anybody expirience this? I dont think anything else caused it, because a reported a lot more balances the last month or 2 then i normally would.

Where are you getting your score from?  How much did it increase?  Did anything else change aside from this one reported balance?

It sounds like you have other reported balances, so you're already showing "revolving credit use" to any FICO algorithm.  That being said, having a zero-balance account show a now positive [reported] balance wouldn't raise a score; It would only keep your score the same or lower it.  It could lower it due to having another account with a balance, or if the balance caused an individual or aggregate utilization threshold to be crossed.  If neither of these issues were the case, you'd expect to see your score remain the same.  My opinion is that something else changed causing your score increase.  This is with my assumption here that we're indeed talking about a FICO score.

1. A purchase would not affect your score. Presumably you're talking about a balance resulting from the purchase of the bicycle.

2. Unless all your other cards were reporting at zero, you would not have received a score increase from adding a reported balance or increasing a reported balance.
