Re: which scores are more correct

I have wondered the same.

After months of watching my scores on CreditKarma bobble around, going down when something bad is removed, going down when my utilization goes down, but going up when something I'm told is a negative goes on---and seeing no correlation between my EQ score on Quizzle and on CreditKarma, I decided to just pay the money and pull my 3 actual reports (I admit it, I'm cheap when just monitoring on a regular basis and only really want to spend the money when it matters).

I found my scores from the bureaus directly are far higher--even in the Very Good range as opposed to being told I have Poor credit on some of the 3rd party sites.   So, now I'm wondering if I should pull the FICO report as well, but is it money well spent?   It makes more sense to me that the score reported directly by the bureau should be more accurate than the score reported by the bureau to FICO, then translated by FICO to me.   But lots of this business makes little sense, so I'm left wondering my best course of action--maybe I should just worry more about the information on the report and let the score work itself out.    Anyway, I hope someone answers, because the more I read, the more confused I am, and rather than just reading FICO's information the site, I'd like to hear some real world experiences.

Starting Score (6/30/14): Credit Karma 619; Quizzle 656
Current Score (4/3/2015): TU 741; EQ 718; EX 671; FICO 8 Bankcard 730
Goal Score: 800 (aim high!!)

Re: which scores are more correct

Ficos are the gold standard, the Vantage Score on CK is not a total fako as there are some lenders who use it.

Re: which scores are more correct

So obtaining the credit bureau's scores on FICO is more accurate than obtaining them directly from the bureaus themselves?

Starting Score (6/30/14): Credit Karma 619; Quizzle 656
Current Score (4/3/2015): TU 741; EQ 718; EX 671; FICO 8 Bankcard 730

If the CRA offers a Fico score it may be the same as here if they are offering the Fico 8 basic score. The CRAs have their own proprietary models as well EX is the Plus Score, TU the New Accounts Model and I believe EQ the Natl Equivalence Score. You need to verify what you are looking at is a Fico the score will always say its a Fico if it is. The proprietary models I have mentioned here are complete Fakos no one uses them to make credit decisions.

Re: which scores are more correct

Ugh, what a labyrinthine system.   So, basically I'm wasting my money to pull scores from each bureau and I should just focus on getting them here if I'm going to pay.   Good to know going forward.   Thanks!
