Search Functionality Subpar

Is there a way to search topics created by a specific user? I am aware there is a way to filter results by author but this does not achieve the same thing as limiting results to topics created by a specific userr. I feel like the search functionality is really lacking on this forum. Maybe I'm missing something but at the very least it is not very intuitive. Is there a place to request additional functionality formally as well?

In the search field, type the name of the member whose posts you are looking for and select "Community" from the drop down menu.  When you see the results, add the username to the  "By Author" field and tick the radio button next to "Forums".  You will then get a list of all the topics started by that member.

The method you suggested @Kalin doesn't produce the desired effect. When I try this method for your username the first two hits I get after filtering everything is "Account Privileges" and "Avatars?" . Both topics were not started by you. Am I doing something wrong?
