Fixing Address Issue on Equifax

I don't know if this is the proper place to post this since it isn't directly a myFICO product question.

My Equifax report, and only that product, reports an erroneous address as my last address. It is clearly a typo and can't imagine where it came from originally. It is my current address with an extra digit in the number. For example if my current address was 123 Main Street it is showing my previous address as 1253 Main Street. Following this example, 1253 Main Street doesn't actually exist as the numbers on Main don't go that high.

I get the feeling that this address is still reporting as I am getting questions from vendors and creditors about my recent move! This might be more of an issue since I own several very small businesses and have lots of soft inquiries on my reports. I've looked through all credit info that I have and can't find anything with that address. My last hard inquiry is over a year old and that address has been reported since.

Any ideas?

Re: Fixing Address Issue on Equifax

Have you tried disputing it with EQ?

Either they should be able to tell you which creditor is updating with the bad address, and you can thrash it out with that creditor, or EQ will delete it, and you'll need to watch your report pretty much daily. When it pops back up again (and it probably will), check with the lender who updated most recently.

Re: Fixing Address Issue on Equifax

I originally disputed it with all three CRAs several years ago. It was long enough ago that I don't recall if that is when it dropped off EX and TU. I will try disputing with EQ again and see. I don't actually see the address unless I actually pay for a full report. I don't know if that would trigger a SW alert.

Thanks for the advice!
