What a rip off

I have the score watch but in order for me to see updated scores, I have to buy a new report. Score watch alerts use to come much more frequently. Now they are fewer and fewer. Why should I have to pay an extra $10.95 every time I want to see the new score?  Myfico use to be good and now not so much!  When my membership ends, I will sign up with another credit monitopring service but it won't be myfico!

In October, you reported that you were cancelling for a second time due to being dissatisfied. Did you sign up for a third time within the past couple of months?

Within the past couple of months, what changed on your EQ report to warrant a change?

Re: What a rip off

I called to cancel and there was a confusion with the refund of the fee I paid. In order to keep me as a customer, fico decided to give me a refund of the monies and allowed me to continue their service until the expiration of the year's contract. That was acceptable. My gripe is that the score alerts are few and far between.  I now show 599 as of November 11 but the score went up to 626. When I log in, it still shows the Novenmebr score not the current one. If I want to see the new score, I have to pay for another report for $10.95. That's the part that is very unfair.  If I still have time from the yearly monitoring service, why shuld I have to pay the see the updated score?

Hi mestable,

Are you saying that you pulled a Score Power report on November 11 that gave you the 599 score, but then later received a Score Watch alert that said that your score is 626?  But when you look at your front page when you log in, the scores at the top of the page (in the box labeled "Your latest FICO scores") still has the 599 from November 11?

If so, then this is an issue that came up a couple months ago and is discussed in this thread:

Something funky going on?

Barry's response in message #31 in that thread indicates that there was a change that was made in response to some customer feedback.  Unfortunately, but I suppose not unexpectedly, this didn't make everyone happy.

If this is the situation that applies to you, then you can still see you latest EQ score, but it will take a couple extra clicks.   First, click on the "Go" arrow below the blue box at the top of the page (the arrow next to "Score Watch, status ON").  Then click on the tab labeled "FICO score history", and you'll see all your scores in reverse chronological order, regardless of whether they came from a Score Watch alert or a Score Power report.

Let us know if this addresses your concern.

Re: What a rip off

II have already done that and it shows the correct updated score, but I want it to show on the home page when I log on without having to go through all the other steps. How do I get it to change on the home page without paying for an updated report?

Re: What a rip off

As far as I know, there's no way to customize your front page to show your most recent score.  It's the way the website is now formatted, a change that was made to make it easier to access your most recent full credit report.

Frankly, I don't like it either - I'd prefer to see my most up-to-date score when I first log in.  But really, that number is only two clicks away.  It's not missing, and I don't need to buy another score to see it.  Until and unless the folks at Lithium change it back to the old format, this is the way it's going to be.

Re: What a rip off

Be that as it may, I have ready quite a few blogs about this problem. Myfico should REALLY go back to the way it was.  People have a right to see their current and updated scores when they log in.  I know that many people are unhappy with myfico and I don't see them lasting too much longer.

Re: What a rip off

I am confused, as well.  I paid for the service mostly for the score simulator and scorewatch for alerts because I'm trying to buy a home.  The problem is - I found out that I'd have to pay 10.95 every time I wanted a new and accurate score.  This really bothers me.  I have already spent over $60 on this and I am confused.  I could just pay Equifax that money and skip myFICO altogether.  I did like the fact that it alerted me to an inquiry (which turned out to be an Equifax and Figi error - I did not apply for credit and Equifax put the inquiry on my account instead of another person with a very similar name who lived in an apartment complex that I USED to live in).   That was a nice alert to get, but as it turned out, even though it was an inquiry that was wrong, it did not affect my score (thank goodness).   BUT, I guess I misunderstood the SW thing.  I paid for three months and had no idea that I would have to buy my fico score every time I wanted to know - BECAUSE I WANT TO KNOW EVERY DAY, I'M TRYING TO BUY A HOUSE.

Now, I have to make sure that I cancel before my three months is up to prevent an automatic billing to my credit card that I'm trying to keep at the zero balance.   UGH.

Unfortunately there is no service that offers FICO scores daily, well not without a steep cost anyway. SW and EQ's counterpart service operate the same and will alert you to significant changes to your CR, for a fee. The items that trigger an alert are found on the SW Guide stickied in this Board. SW offers 2 free FICO reports and will alert you to changes to your EQ CR and FICO score, provided your target score is correctly set. It doesn't offer daily pulls w/ FICO score, but would be pretty cool if it did.

The only way to know and see your FICO score on a daily basis is to actually purchase a new report. As a SW subscriber, you get the reports for $10.95. If you buy them directly from Equifax, you'll wind up paying at least $5 more per report.

IMO, if looking to save $$$ and you don't want to spend over $300 per month to purchase a new report daily to see your score, try subscribing to a CMS like creditchecktotal or any number of daily CR pullers out there. The scores on those sites are NOT FICO scores, but as you see a change to your report(s), come back to myFICO to purchase your report and score to see the score impact. Most of us do that and is a great way to save money if nothing much is happening on your CR.

Re: What a rip off

Great!  Thanks for the information.  Will try to delve into that tomorrow when I have some "spare time".  LOL   Makes good sense to me as long as they do not affect my credit in any way.
