I just purchased two scores off of myfico, one with transunsion and one with experian. There is a significant difference in the scores. I read a forum post that transunion is not a FICO score. so, why did i pay MyFICO for the second score if it is NOT a FICO score at all?
I think you probably meant to say that you purchases your Transunion and *Equifax* score from myFICO. Unfortunately, consumers can no longer purchase their Experian score. If purchased from this website, it is most certainly a FICO score. Can you provide a link to the forum post that you read?
With regard to the significant difference in scores, you may need to pull the full version of your credit reports from annualcreditreport.com. You're entitled to a free report, from each credit bureau per year. It's not out of the ordinary for your scores to differ, but if the disparity is significant, you can bet that there are differences in the information being reported, or how the information is being reported on your credit reports.
My understanding is that the transunion score we get from this site is from the same database that lenders pull, so while it is in fact a FICO score it may be different from what a lender pulls.
The equifax should be spot on though, assuming you pull the score the same day you have the lender pull your reports.

Correct, the information used to generate the Transunion credit scores is the same that would be used when a lender pulls your score.
However, the Transunion model used by the lenders might be different from the scoring model available here. We can get the TU98 FICO score here, but many lenders have moved on to the TU04 model.
And you're correct, the Equifax FICO score that you get here will be the same that lenders pull - Equifax's Beacon 5.0 score. There is a newer version of Beacon that was rolled out last year - Beacon 9.0. But I don't think very many lenders are using this just yet.
