Don't believe everything that CSRs tell you. Our BK is approaching 4 years DC. My wife got the secured card 1 yr ago and has since got two more CiITI co branded cards Sears MC-2k. And the Costco card-9.5 k. There are others on this forum who have got cards from CITI prior to 7 yrs post DC. Also CITI has some good products although they seem to be falling behind CHASE right now. A side note CITI reacts differently to those who IIB.
Quick question: So does this mean (correct me if I'm wrong) that co-branded Citi cards are easier to get? I am 2 yrs post discharge in 1 month or so and I applied for the Costco card and was denied because of the BK... I also was denied from Chase and I didn't include either of those cards in my BK.. I would like a Sears card but I'm also afraid to apply because I already have alot of inquiries and not sure if they'll even consider me.. Also, I have several Synchorny bank cards usually don't use them much and when I do I pay them off really quick yet they refuse to give me a CLI
not sure why... In my specific case Comenity has been the good guy with me.. ![]()

Citi retail cards like Best Buy, Sears and Home Depot seem to be easier to get post BK. The Citi Costco Visa is not issued by Citi Retail though.. With Chase, they auto decline if you have a BK on record and you MUST recon.

Yes, generally co-branded Citi cards are easier to get, as long as you didn't include them in your BK. I see folks post here with approvals for Home Depot, Sears & Best Buy a couple years post discharge. I'm out with Citi for the long haul, they were my largest CC creditor at $22k. I actually had Best Buy MC, but it was issued by HSBC when they were in the sub prime market, Citi acquired it. I closed it last fall when Citi refused to budge on the $59 annual fee HSBC had stuck it with.
As for Synchrony, try getting a CLI through the Chat feature when logged into your account, I got them to raise my Walmart card from $2200 to $5k through chat. Good old Commenity, my Bill Me Later/PayPal Credit is the one credit account that survived my BK7, had a $0 bal on it prior to filing, had no other Commenity accounts so they weren't notified & didn't find out. Unfortunately that doesn't help my AAoA as they don't report to credit bureaus unless it's someonthing bad.

Here is another card you can try for when you are out of the garden, will try to get the Skymiles as well within the next few months. YMMV in terms of outcome, but will be 5 years post dicharge in NOV.
I don't ever fly Delta so it won't be that one.. I will try for an AMEX 10/2017 when I hit 5 years post BK ![]()

As usual YMMV You may be a little early for CITI. Yes co branded cards are generally easier to get. Synchrony had tightened up as far as getting CLI. Comenity can be very generous.
I've seen that posted a couple times here on MyFico, but when I got my statement this month I was surprised to see a $1k auto CLI, from $5k to $6k, I only charge $100 or so each month on it.

If only Citi doesn't do a EQ+EX double pull I would love to try and apply for a Costco Visa! Its just too big of a risk only to get denied by them again!
My wife was instantly approved for the Costco Visa, and they only pulled EX, but could be only on a case by case basis.
